Job Description
  • Position Overview:**
The Housekeeping Supervisor plays a crucial role in ensuring the cleanliness, orderliness, and overall excellence of housekeeping operations within the hotel. Reporting directly to the Director of Housekeeping, the Supervisor is responsible for helping to oversee and coordinate the activities of the housekeeping staff to maintain high standards of cleanliness and guest satisfaction.
  • Key Responsibilities:**
  • **Supervision and Leadership:**
  • Provide leadership and direction to the housekeeping team, ensuring all staff members understand their roles and responsibilities.
  • Conduct regular training sessions to maintain and enhance the team's skills and knowledge.
  • Motivate and inspire team members to achieve excellence in their work performance.
  • **Quality Assurance:**
  • Conduct frequent inspections of guest rooms, public areas, and back-of-house areas to ensure cleanliness meets or exceeds established standards. Assist with cleaning rooms when business demands.
  • Address any deficiencies promptly and take corrective actions to maintain quality standards.
  • Monitor guest feedback and take proactive measures to address any cleanliness-related issues.
  • **Inventory and Resource Management:**
  • Maintain adequate stock levels of cleaning supplies and linens, placing orders as needed to ensure smooth operations.
  • Monitor the usage of cleaning supplies and equipment to minimize waste and control costs.
  • Ensure all equipment is properly maintained and report any maintenance issues to the appropriate department.
  • **Scheduling and Time Management:**
  • Develop and maintain efficient work schedules for housekeeping staff, ensuring adequate coverage to meet operational demands.
  • Monitor and manage employee attendance, including approving time-off requests and managing overtime as necessary.
  • Coordinate with other departments to ensure timely turnover of guest rooms and meeting the needs of guests.
  • **Compliance and Safety:**
  • Ensure compliance with all hotel policies, procedures, and standards related to cleanliness, safety, and hygiene.
  • Conduct regular safety inspections and training sessions to promote a safe working environment.
  • Investigate and report any accidents or incidents promptly, implementing corrective actions as needed.
  • **Communication and Collaboration:**
  • Foster a culture of open communication and teamwork among housekeeping staff and other departments.
  • Collaborate with the Front Office, Engineering, and other departments to address guest requests and resolve any issues.
  • Communicate effectively with the Director of Housekeeping regarding operational challenges, achievements, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Qualifications:**
  • Previous experience in housekeeping or a related field, with at least 1 in a supervisory role is preferred.
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire a diverse team.
  • Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high standards of cleanliness and hygiene.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and knowledge of housekeeping management software is preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize tasks, manage time effectively, and adapt to changing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Knowledge of local health and safety regulations and procedures.
  • Flexibility to work a variety of shifts, including weekends and holidays, as needed.
