Lewis Central Community School District is Hiring a 2023-24 Facility Manager (Titan Hill) Near Council, IA

Lewis Central Community School District is looking for a Facility Manager for our Titan Hill Intermediate School. This position is a full-time full-year working manager position that will manage and work alongside the custodial staff for the building. Experience as a custodian and in supervising others is strongly preferred.

Buildings and Grounds Director


Summary:

  • Maintains the District’s school facilities in such a state of operating excellence that they present no problems or interruptions to the educational program.
  • Supervises, manages and provides guidance and support to custodial staff assigned to school facilities.

Basic Duties (not all inclusive):

  • Reports to work as scheduled on a regular and reliable basis.
  • Provides flexibility in own schedule so as to accommodate building activities, building supervision and subordinate issues.
  • Maintains inventory of custodial/maintenance supplies and equipment daily.
  • Cleans and preserves designated spaces, equipment, etc., in the building and on the grounds daily.
  • Performs ongoing preventative maintenance and minor repair for the following but not limited to: plumbing, electrical equipment, custodial equipment, ventilation, building structure and hardware as needed daily.
  • Assists visiting public in utilizing the facilities and in obtaining and setting up needed equipment and/or materials.
  • Coordinates and assists with seasonal grounds work (snow removal, mowing, etc.) for facilities as needed.
  • Assists Building Principal and/or Administration and Activities Director in scheduling facility use and assigning extra time for custodial staff as needed.
  • Assumes and/or assigns responsibility for building and grounds security each school day, evening and during special events; responds to alarms as assigned by the Building Principal or Buildings & Grounds Director.
  • Maintains work related records and prepares various reports as directed daily.
  • Evaluates performance, monitors timesheets and assigns overtime if needed for building custodians.
  • May be asked to perform district-wide support services in case of emergency situations. May be required to be on 24-hour call.
  • Other duties may be assigned.

Qualifications:


Education and/or Experience

  • High School diploma or general education degree (GED) and, 1-2 years managerial experience
  • 1-2 years facilities/ground maintenance experience or a related field, preferably in a school setting

Hours/Schedule:
Facility Managers are scheduled for a minimum of 8 hours per day during the course of the school day. Overtime hours may be frequently required and requested by the Buildings and Grounds Director. In addition to their regularly scheduled shift, Facility Managers may be asked to work events (usually held during evening or weekend hours) for any building in the District outside of their normal working hours.


Rate of pay:
The current base rate for facility managers is $18.50 per hour. Depending on previous work experience or any relatable education or certifications you may hold, this rate could increase by $2.00 more per hour. Final determination of applicants individual starting pay rate will be determined by the Business Office/HR.


Benefits:
As a full-time full-year position, this position is eligible for our full benefit package, including paid single health and dental benefits with the option to purchase family benefits. A $30,000 life insurance policy at no cost to the employee and have the ability to enroll in a few supplemental insurance programs (vision, accident/critical illness). All employees are automatically enrolled from day one, in the state sponsored retirement program, IPERS. The District contributes 9.44% of employees' wages to this. IPERS requires that employees contribute 6.29% of their wages.
Paid Leaves/Holidays: The District offers both paid sick leave, paid personal leave, and paid vacation leave for this position. This position has 8 paid holidays; 4th of July, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day and the day following, Christmas Day, New Year’s Day, Good Friday and Memorial Day.
