About the Position: LLHM seeks a Communications Manager to manage communications across the institution's web, social, email, and print channels. This role will work closely with LLHM’s development and education teams to oversee effective marketing and communications strategies. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter that has a proven track record of successful audience growth strategies and brand management within an arts or education organization. The position will report to the Executive Director. 

Responsibilities:

• Develop, implement and evaluate an annual marketing plan, in coordination with the rest of LLHM team to increase its reach, guided by the museum’s audience map
• Create or supervise the creation of marketing materials for all LLHM initiatives, including visual assets and copywriting, consistent with LLHM’s branding
• Maintain and update the museum’s official website, hosted on Squarespace
• Manage LLHM’s email list, execute communication plans on Mailchimp etc.
• Grow LLHM’s digital impact, actively engage with partner social media accounts, followers, and other stakeholders on various social platforms
• Monitor LLHM’s business and program listings on external sites such as Google Business, Yelp, NYC Parks Calendar, Eventbrite, among others
• Manage advertisements across platforms such as Google Ads, Eventbrite, and social media sites following existing guides
• Track press outreach and build relationships with media outlets, draft press releases
• Identify potential marketing partnerships and implement collaborative projects
• Assist the rest of the team in visual documentation of museum activities and support programs as needed, including attending public and fundraising events during weekday evenings or weekends when needed
• Actively engage with LLHM activities, interact with audience during programs and open hours
• Represent LLHM externally in relation to communications, cultivate new audiences at community events

Qualifications:

• 3-5 years’ experience working in a similar role.
• Exceptional written and oral communication skills.
• Thorough understanding of brand marketing, audience development, performance strategies, and associated KPIs.
• Deep understanding of email marketing strategies, including list building, segmentation, A/B testing, drip campaigns, and results tracking. 
• Working knowledge of Google Analytics, Google Ads, Squarespace, CRM, design software and Canva.
• Excellent skills in Microsoft Office Suite and Google Workspace.
• Strong attention to detail is a must, so are excellent organizational and interpersonal skills.
• Proven ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast-paced environment.
• Acquaintance with Black history and culture as well as the cultural or education field at large are a plus.
• Comfort with developing positive, effective relationships with colleagues, stakeholders, and audiences is critical.
