Lewiston Middle School is Hiring a School Counselor - Lewiston Middle School Near Lewiston, ME

Summary: The School Counselor serves as a member of the school’s Social Emotional Learning team within the Response To Intervention (RTI) framework. The School Counselor supports a broad range of social-emotional needs to best position students for academic success.Salary: $40,500 - $74,167Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Other duties may be assigned.Analyze student data to Identify and support school-wide needs related to social-emotional learning.Implement/facilitate researched informed interventions in large group, small group, and individual settings.Collaborate with and support general education teachers in the delivery of core tier 1 SEL curriculumAttend RTI meetings and identify level of support needed for studentsIdentify and develop accommodations and resources for students and teachers and assist in drafting and implementing individual behavior plansPrepare and follow up on referrals to outside agenciesEngage in restorative work with students, families and classroomsEngage families in RTI process and problem-solvingRespond to, evaluate, and make recommendations for students in crisisDevelop and facilitate professional development for staffSupervisory Responsibilities:StudentsQualification Requirements: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.Education and/or Experience:Masters Degree in school counseling, counseling or social workCertificates, Licenses, Registrations:Valid Teaching Certificate with School Counselor Certificate or Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW, LMSW-cc, LCPC, LCPC-c)Language Skills:Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or government regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, and the general public.Mathematical Skills:Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.Reasoning ability:Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables. Other skills and abilities:Ability to apply knowledge of current research and theory to instructional programs; ability to plan and implement therapeutic based goals, school objectives and the needs and abilities of students to whom assigned. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, peers, parents and community; ability to speak clear and concisely in written or oral communications.Physical demands:The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
