SUMMARY: Provides individual and group counseling to students to support management of emotions and interpersonal skills. Guides students in academic strategies, career exploration, and post-secondary options.
Salary Range: $40,500-$74,167ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES. Other Duties May Be Assigned.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Masters Degree in counseling.
Certificates, Licenses, RegistrationsValid Elementary or Secondary Teaching Certificate. M.S. Endorsement and school counselor certificate (075)
Language SkillsAbility to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
Mathematical SkillsAbility to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations. Ability to interpret data from student assessments.
Reasoning AbilityAbility to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
OTHER SKILLS And ABILITIESAbility to apply knowledge of current research and theory to instructional programs. Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with students, peers and parents; skill in oral and written communication.

- Provides individual support for students in academic planning, support, and goal setting.
- Delivers classroom lessons based on social emotional learning and school counseling standards.
- Supports Social Emotional Learning objectives by collaborating with service providers, teachers, administrators and families.
- Provides short term individual/group counseling and crisis intervention for individual students.
- Refers students and families to outside counseling resources for long-term counseling support.
- Collaborates with families, school staff, administration, and the community to support student success.
- Advocates for the academic and social emotional needs of students.
- Works to improve equitable access to achievement and opportunities for all students.
- Interprets post-high school opportunities and available information regarding career, college, military and lifestyle decisions.
