Lexington City Schools is Hiring a CTE, Student Services and Special Programs Coordinator Near Lexington, NC

General Statement of Job:

Under limited supervision, employee performs a wide variety of administrative duties in support of the Senior Director of CTE, Student Services & Special Programs. Responsible for a broad range of high volume, complex communications, financial recordkeeping and tracking, and correspondence. Actions are guided and directed by Lexington City Schools’ policies, North Carolina General Statutes, and administrative procedures. This position requires excellent interpersonal skills, a high degree of resourcefulness, confidentiality, good judgment, multi-tasking, problem-solving, and prioritization. The employee is expected to analyze and solve problems independently or consult with a higher authority on matters that have the potential for wide reaching impact in the district.


Essential Job Functions:

  • Provides stellar customer service to all stakeholders who interact with the department and LCS
  • Enters and places all orders for the federal CTE Perkin’s budgets and amendments and manages budget and scheduling for Driver’s Education and our Exceptional Children’s programming budgets.
  • Monitors (with supervisor) all assigned federal, state, and local budgets and ensures line item in budgets are not overspent, and that payroll is being paid correctly to corresponding budget
  • Keeps current (with supervisor) on all Driver’s Education, Exceptional Children’s and CTE budgets.
  • Coordinates federal and state audits as needed
  • Updates and distributes various school and central office forms
  • Assists with all district special events, curriculum and community events
  • Updates Procedure manuals and other resources regularly
  • Helps coordinate Title 1 supervisory committee with supervisor
  • Coordinates with companies supplying online learning platforms for LCS
  • Assists finance with purchase orders and central office staff with budget codes
  • Coordinates & Supervises Drivers Education
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Senior Director, Chief Academic Officer and Superintendent


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Considerable knowledge of the operations and activities of the department
  • Thorough knowledge of board policies and procedures
  • Thorough knowledge of and ability to use correct grammar, vocabulary, spelling and punctuation
  • Thorough knowledge of modern office practices and procedures
  • General knowledge of bookkeeping
  • Considerable knowledge of common word processing, spreadsheet, electronic mail and file maintenance programs
  • Ability to generate correspondence, spreadsheets, and reports independently
  • Ability to interact and deal with the public and employees in a professional manner
  • Ability to perform basic bookkeeping tasks
  • Ability to sort and distribute documents
  • Ability to maintain confidential information and use discretion and good judgment
  • Ability to maintain complete and accurate records and to develop standard reports from those records
  • Ability to learn, interpret and explain policies, regulations and programs
  • Ability to multitask in a fast paced environment
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships as necessitated by work assignments
  • Ability to perform under stress and assist others in stressful and/or emergency situations


Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution in a related field
  • Three (3) years of experience with financial recordkeeping (monitoring budgets, purchase orders, general accounting, etc.)
  • Three (3) years of experience with coordinating and/or managing projects
  • Any equivalent combination of training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to physically perform the basic life operational functions of climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, standing, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, feeling, hearing, and repetitive motions.
  • Must be able to exert up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 5 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
  • Must possess the visual acuity to operate machines and equipment including close inspection of moving and small parts, using measurement devices, assembly, and fabrication of parts, and to maintain records.
  • Physical demand requirements are in excess of those for Sedentary Work. Light Work usually requires walking or standing to a significant degree. However, if the use of arm and/or leg controls requires exertion of forces greater than for Sedentary Work and the worker sits most of the time, the job is rated for Light Work.
