SUMMARY:
The Respiratory Therapist performs therapeutic treatments, modalities and tests on pulmonary patients; assists physicians with procedures; maintains equipment and supplies; functions as a team member to ensure smooth and efficient operations and patient flow; coordinates all modalities in the Pulmonary Function Lab; provides pulmonary instruction.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Formal training which will probably be indicated by a high school diploma or equivalent; successful completion of an AMA or ARRT-approved course of study in respiratory therapy, with certification or associate degree; registration with the National Board of Respiratory Therapy, or registry eligible; basic life support and CPR & ACLS certification; broad experience with emphasis in pulmonary function testing; good communication skills; ability to monitor patient condition; mathematical skills.
PHYSICAL GUIDELINES:
Physical guidelines include the ability to move, traverse, position self, remain in a stationary position and negotiate steps for up to eight hours per day; lift, move and transport patient and materials; motor coordination and manual dexterity; articulate speech; read and understand medical information; visual acuity.
