Job Summary

Under the general direction of the Revenue Cycle Integrity Director, this employee participates in the development, design, assessment and training of Revenue Cycle soft skills, workflow, and compliance training.

The Support specialist will serve as a liaison between the users and the Revenue Cycle Integrity department and application teams.

This role will also be responsible for Quality Assurance reviews across multiple departments and services within the Revenue cycle, as well as, revenue generating functions.

Minimum Qualifications

Minimum Education : High School Diploma or Equivalent

Minimum Years of Experience : 5 Years of experience in hospital revenue cycle

Substitutable Education & Experience : 5 Years of Experience can be substituted for one of the following :

  • Associate's Degree in Computer Science, Management Science, Business Administration with 3 years of experience in hospital revenue cycle;
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Management Science, Health Information Management or Business Administration with 1 year of experience in patient financial services such as revenue flow or patient access;

Bachelor's Degree in any field of study with 3 years of experience in hospital revenue cycle.

Required Certifications / Licensure : Must be willing to obtain South Carolina HFMA CRCA certification

Required Training : Proficient in Microsoft Office suite;

Must be willing to cross credential in additional Revenue Cycle applications and workflows.

Essential Functions

  • Attends continuing education courses to keep abreast of current admission, billing and collection information changes. Attends training necessary to stay abreast of system enhancements, upgrades, etc.
  • Responsible for departmental strategic planning related to training / educational needs for BSA.
  • In conjunction with area supervisors, develop a training program (to include manuals and reference material) that allows a new employee to function at a basic level once training session has been complete.
  • Utilizing supervisor / management input, develop competency testing standards to measure performance for new & existing employees.
  • Responsible for training BSA employees in the following areas :
  • New employee departmental orientation.
  • Basic operations training of employees in the following areas :
  • Patient Financial Services
  • Patient Access (ED, Central, De-Central, LMC Lex & LMC Irmo).
  • Training of new compliance / regulatory standards.
  • Develop daily audits, which keeps the Vice President informed of education status / needs of department.
  • Ability to make learning / training process creative and exciting.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Ability to perform any job within BSA at a basic level. This is necessary since this employee will be educating all employees on basic job function.
  • Perform other required training as necessary.
  • Develop communication system to assess educational needs within the department.
  • Demonstrate positive Service Excellence behavior at all times.
  • Team player.
  • Maintains / updates departmental training manuals as needed.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned.
