Lexington Regional Health Center Title: Radiology Administrative Assistant Effective Date: October 24, 2021 Supervisor: Director of Radiology Department: Radiology FLSA Status: Non-exempt Principle duties and responsibilities
Greets patients upon arrival to the department and enters orders upon arrival as needed.
Communicates effectively in person and on the phone with patients and providers to schedule procedures. Asks the patient appropriate questions relating to the procedure, insurance and health history.
Reviews daily schedule and provides Radiology staff with necessary reports and screening forms.
Provides patients and providers with images and reports as requested. Organizes records of exams being sent to outside facilities.
Forwards calls and messages to the appropriate individuals in an effort to maximize patient care and workflow.
Ensure patients and visitors follow current infection control guidelines.
Responsible for ensuring the environment meets appropriate governing body standards.
Maintains patient and staff safety through the use of patient safety tools (Teamstepps, Just Culture, etc.).
Regular attendance at the assigned work location is required.
Performs all other duties as assigned.
Minimum knowledge, skills, and abilities
Requires a basic knowledge of reading, writing, spelling and mathematics. Basic computer skills are also required. This is typically acquired through the completion of a high school diploma or equivalent.
Ability to maintain strict confidentiality with regard to protected and sensitive information.
Ability to complete reports and correspondence at a professional level.
Ability to immediately respond to common inquiries and complaints from patients, employees and regulatory agencies.
Ability to effectively communicate with individuals from diverse backgrounds. Ability to communicate effectively and positively with patients, visitors, hospital personnel vendors and all customers that present to the facility.
Successful completion of required knowledge and training of standard precaution and transmission protocols and when to apply during principle duties and responsibilities.
Working conditions
Works in a normal patient care environment, well lighted and ventilated with minimal exposure to excessive noise, dust, temperature, etc.
Spends up to 90% of shift completing paperwork/computer work, answering the phone, and greeting patients while the remaining 10% may be spent walking to various departments throughout the facility delivering reports, getting mail, assisting patients to other destinations, etc.
