Lexington School District Four is Hiring a Health Science Teacher Near Swansea, SC

Position Purpose: Under the general supervision of the School Principal, to develop students' awareness and understanding of healthcare foundation standards through a combination of classroom instruction and work-based learning experiences.
Qualifications: Valid SC teaching certificate in appropriate area. Professional healthcare certification and/or licensure approved by the South Carolina Office of Career and Technology Education.
Essential Functions
  • Develops and administers Health Science classes consistent with school district goals and objectives.
  • Teaches knowledge and understanding of the South Carolina health science standards.
  • Conducts ongoing assessment of student growth and progress and modifies instructional methods to fit individual student's needs, including students with special needs; conducts individual and small group instruction as needed.
  • Continues to acquire professional knowledge and learn of current developments in the educational and health science field by attending seminars, workshops or professional meetings, or by conducting research.
  • Organizes and maintains a system for accurate and complete record-keeping, grading, and reporting for all student activities, achievement and attendance as required by district procedures and applicable laws.
  • Encourages parental involvement in students' education and ensures effective communication with students and parents.
  • Ensures that student conduct conforms to the school's standards and school district policies, and establishes and maintains standards of student behavior needed to achieve a functional learning atmosphere in the classroom.
  • Coordinates with other professional staff members and participates in faculty meetings and committees.
  • Selects and requisitions appropriate instructional aids and other supplies and equipment and maintains inventory records.
Physical Requirements: Requires light work that involves walking, bending, or standing some of the time and involves exerting up to 10 pounds of force on a recurring basis or routine keyboard operations.
Terms of Employment: 190 days based Teacher Salary Schedule
Evaluation: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with Board Policy and the State Department of Education Evaluation Process
Additional Duties: Performs other related tasks as assigned by the Principal and other central office administrators as designated by the Superintendent.
FLSA Status: Exempt
