LHH is working with an innovative and entrepreneurial bank in the Dallas area that is seeking a new Controller. This role will report to the EVP CFO, and the Controller will play a pivotal role in guiding and managing the Accounting Department, ensuring precision in financial reporting and regulatory processes. Their Dallas office is conveniently situated in the midtown area near downtown Dallas.

Job Responsibilities:

• Oversee general ledger accounting, accounting policy, and financial reporting.
• Coach, train, and provide regular feedback to the accounting and finance team.
• Actively participate in the implementation of new general ledger software and assist in implementing new core software.
• Ensure accuracy in schedules supporting monthly, quarterly, and annual reports, as well as other periodic or ad hoc reports.
• Develop the annual budget with direct input from the CFO and CEO.
• Manage and oversee internal and external audit processes, ensuring appropriate financial statement disclosures in accordance with US GAAP requirements.
• Design and operate internal controls over financial reporting in the accounting function and advise on other business processes.
• Review monthly Board packages and management reports, analyze and interpret financial results, and submit reports promptly.
• Supervise the regulatory filings process to ensure timely and accurate submission of all required reports to the appropriate regulatory agency (e.g., Call Report, FR Y-9SP).
• Stay current on GAAP and bank regulatory accounting practices and standards, incorporating new and revised standards into accounting policies and practices.
• Oversee compilation of the annual tax return and review the annual tax return prepared by a third party.
• Undertake special projects as assigned, providing an opportunity for growth across various areas of the accounting and finance function.

Job Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting is required.
• Active CPA certification is a plus.
• Minimum of 8 years of related work experience, including at least 4 years in an assistant controller role at a bank or credit union, or as a manager at a public accounting firm with a focus on banking.
• Banking industry experience is required.
• Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving skills; ability to delegate tasks and lead a team.
• Experience in managing others is essential.
• Familiarity with Jack Henry Silverlake, FIS IBS, FIS BIC, and PeopleSoft is a plus
