Controller

Reports to CFO, will hire one direct report

A private equity firm that invests in renewable energy and critical infrastructure, is looking for a Controller to join its finance team. The Controller will report to the CFO and will be responsible for the following tasks:

• Manage the management company finance and accounting functions, including monthly financials, quarterly reporting packages, budgeting, cash, office facilities, with possible compliance support.
• Assist the CFO with all aspects of compliance, such as SEC registration, policy writing, reporting, and oversight.
• Coordinate with the VP of Finance and the finance associate on fund reporting and fund operations matters, as needed.
• Support the CFO with strategic initiatives, special projects, and ad hoc analysis.
• This is a hand-on role without any direct reports for the foreseeable future so candidates must be strong self-starters and a possess a roll up their sleeves mentality

The ideal candidate will have the following qualifications:

• CPA with experience in financial services, preferably in private equity or investment management.
• A foundation in Big 4 public accounting up to the manager level before transitioning to the investment industry is preferred
• Experience in management company finance and accounting, as well as compliance and internal controls.
• Strong problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
• Self-starter, team player, and hard worker, who can work independently and handle multiple priorities.
