LHH is Hiring a Grant Accountant Near Grand Rapids, MI

Position Overview: The Grant Accountant plays a crucial role within our client's Finance team. This position is responsible for the comprehensive financial management of grants, including budgeting, reporting, and analysis. The Grant Accountant will ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and internal policies, while also contributing to the overall financial health of the organization.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage the financial aspects of grants, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
  • Collaborate with program managers to develop grant budgets and monitor their activity in the accounting software.
  • Audit grant accounting data, correct errors, and compute accruals.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable laws, statutes, and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • Prepare and submit timely financial reports to government agencies and third-party payers.
  • Monitor grant contractor and sub-recipient agreements, ensuring adherence to financial policies and sound business practices.
  • Review and update Federal Internal Control and Procedures annually or as needed.
  • Assist with updating other financial policies and procedures.
  • Assist with the Single Audit and the development of revenue fee schedules.
  • Contribute to annual budgeting and reforecasting financial projections.
  • Prepare journal entries and assist with the month-end closing process.
  • Gather and prepare information for the annual financial audit.
  • Maintain positive relationships with internal and external customers.
  • Complete other tasks, projects, and responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or a related field with an accounting concentration.
  • Minimum of five years of experience in accounting and business administration.
  • Proficiency in computer-based accounting systems and Microsoft Excel; experience with Word and GP Dynamics preferred.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy in all work.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
