LHH Recruitment Solutions is looking for a Sales and Use Tax Professional for a growing client in the Greater Cincinnati area. The Sales and Use Tax Specialist is responsible for managing and ensuring compliance with state and local sales and use tax laws and regulations. This role involves preparing and filing tax returns, conducting tax research, and providing guidance on tax-related matters. The Specialist will work closely with various departments to ensure accurate tax reporting and to support tax planning and audit defense initiatives. This position is temp to hire and will pay between $22 and $26/hr. Responsibilities:
Prepare and file monthly, quarterly, and annual sales and use tax returns.
Ensure timely payment of all sales and use tax liabilities.
File and pay personal property tax returns.
Maintain accurate records of all filings and payments.
Conduct research on state and local tax laws, regulations, and rulings.
Provide analysis and recommendations on tax issues to management.
Stay updated on changes in tax legislation and its impact on the company.
Assist with state and local tax audits, including gathering and preparing documentation.
Respond to information requests from tax authorities.
Collaborate with external auditors and advisors as needed.
Identify opportunities for process improvements in tax compliance and reporting.
Maintain comprehensive documentation for tax positions and decisions.
Prepare reports and summaries for management review.
Ensure proper documentation of tax procedures and policies.
Qualifications:
2-4 years of experience in sales and use tax compliance or related tax experience.
Strong understanding of state and local sales and use tax laws and regulations.
Proficiency in tax research tools and ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, or similar).
Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
Experience with tax compliance software (e.g., Vertex, Avalara) is a plus.
