Job Summary: The Senior Accountant is responsible for overseeing and managing the financial accounting and reporting activities. This role ensures the accuracy and integrity of financial records, compliance with relevant accounting standards and regulations, and supports the financial decision-making process of the organization.

Key Responsibilities:

• Financial Reporting: Prepare and review financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements. Ensure compliance with GAAP and other relevant accounting standards.
• General Ledger Management: Maintain and reconcile the general ledger, ensuring accuracy and completeness of financial data. Oversee month-end and year-end closing processes.
• Accounts Management: Oversee accounts payable and accounts receivable functions. Ensure timely and accurate processing of invoices, payments, and collections.
• Budgeting and Forecasting: Assist in the development of annual budgets and financial forecasts. Monitor budget performance and report variances to management.
• Audit Support: Coordinate and support external audits. Prepare audit schedules, provide necessary documentation, and address auditor inquiries.
• Internal Controls: Develop and implement internal controls to safeguard the organization’s assets and ensure the integrity of financial information. Regularly review and update accounting policies and procedures.
• Financial Analysis: Conduct financial analysis to support strategic decision-making. Provide insights and recommendations based on financial data and trends.
• Tax Compliance: Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations. Prepare and file tax returns and other required financial reports.
• Team Collaboration: Work closely with other departments to ensure alignment of financial goals and objectives. Provide financial training and support to non-financial staff as needed.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. CPA certification preferred.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in accounting
• Strong knowledge of GAAP and other relevant accounting standards.
• Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
• Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience working in a non-profit or faith-based organization.
• Familiarity with fund accounting and grant management.
