Job Goal: This is a two-part position: to support teachers in literacy growth and achievement and to guide teachers and complete the RTI process under MTSS. The Literacy & RTI Coach must be knowledgeable in foundational literacy, the Science of Reading, and the Response to Intervention (RTI) process to work collaboratively with administrators, teachers, academic specialist, school psychologists, counselors and parents to be able to design, implement and monitor literacy support and strategies and RTI interventions designed to support student academic achievement.

QUALIFICATIONS:

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Prompt and regular attendance.
• Meet regularly with district ELA Specialist and MTSS Coordinators.
• Meet regularly with school administrators and staff to keep them informed on literacy goals & outcomes to increase student achievement and to ensure fidelity of the RTI process and student progress within Tier 2.
• Provide training, consultation, and support for all staff on state and district literacy requirements and all Tier 2 RTI procedures within the MTSS process.
• Obtain the Dyslexia Endorsement if not already on certification to support staff and students.
• Obtain the LETRs Facilitator Training Certification to support staff.
• Lead the school level Literacy Team to identify school literacy goals, action plan steps and monitor data for student achievement.
• Lead the staff and administrators in literacy coaching and supports for student achievement and improvement in supporting state and district expectations under the Georgia Literacy Act & Georgia’s Dyslexia Efforts.
• Schedule and support reading and dyslexia screenings at the school level within the district assessment timeline and hold data digs, instructional planning with staff and develop reading intervention plans for Tier 2 for any identified students.
• Assist teachers and monitor with fidelity in reviewing RTI folders, student data, identifying target deficits, establishing appropriate interventions and the proper protocol for students within the Tier 2 process following state and district procedures.

• Perform such other tasks and assumes such other responsibilities that provide or coordinate professional learning and supports for teachers as assigned by the Supervisor.

Physical Requirements:

Able to perform routine physical activities that are required to fulfill job responsibilities including:

Medium Work: Exerting 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently and/or up to 10 pounds as needed to move objects.

Terms of Employment:

Salary shall be paid consistent on the System’s approved salary schedule. Length of work year and hours of employment shall be established by the system following 190 day contract.

Evaluation:

Performance of this job will be evaluated by the building level principal.
