Summary: WEEKEND PART TIME PERMENANT POSITION Responsible for providing direct service to residents of Liberty House and callers on the crisis line which include crisis intervention, safety planning, counseling, advocacy, parenting support information and referral. Responsible for managing shelter activities and responding to residents’ needs during shift.

Responsibilities (include but not limited to):

· Perform routine chores and cleaning tasks assigned by shift to ensure safety and cleanliness of the shelter

· Maintain shelter residential and office spaces: stock supplies, stock personal care supplies, photocopy necessary forms, create new resident files, shred documents etc. as specified by Shelter Manager

· Complete house security checks a minimum of 3 times or as assigned during shift

· Screen referrals and admit incoming residents, properly documenting history and other relevant information.

· Provide advocacy based counseling to victims of domestic violence in an emergency setting

· Provide crisis intervention and conflict resolution with resident.

· Model non-violent conflict resolution and use non-violent forms of guidance.

· Model and actively promote positive, nurturing interactions between adults and children in shelter.

· Answer crisis line and maintain resident logs and records by documenting every call in Caseworthy.

· Remain knowledgeable of shelter and agency guidelines and procedures so independent decisions may be made in emergency as well as daily situations.

· Communicate shelter code of conduct and expectations to residents as outlined in the shelter policies. Promptly address difficulties or problems that arise in conjunction with on-call advocate Shelter Manager or Family Advocate.

· Provide shelter orientations to clients and their children within 24 hours or less after client entry into shelter.

· Complete exit documentation and surveys for clients moving out of shelter. Clean rooms after clients leave per cleaning protocol and prepare room for next resident.

· Complete all paperwork by the end of your shift.

· Adhere to agency policies and work rules including confidentiality, child abuse reporting and code of ethics. Maintain professional boundaries with shelter residents.

· Attend mandatory shelter advocate meetings and trainings as required by Shelter Manager and/or Director.

· Other duties and projects as assigned

Qualifications:

· Bachelors Degree in related field or experience may substitute for education

· One (1) year experience in crisis intervention and domestic violence advocacy

· One (1) year experience providing direct services to women in residential or social service setting required

· Knowledge of domestic violence issues

· Ability to work sensitively with traumatized populations, including children

· Ability to work well independently and as a member of a team.

· Experience working with culturally diverse staff, volunteers and residents.

· Bi-lingual skills a plus

· Dependable transportation and valid State Driver’s License

· CPR and First Aid Certification

· Ability to perform physical tasks; move objects, bend, lift up to 50 lbs. and climb stairs repeatedly

· Must pass criminal background check, drug screen, have clean driving record, and clear of personal domestic violence or alcohol issues for minimum of 3 years.

Pay: $10.00 - $12.00 per hour
