Pay Philosophy
The typical starting salary range for this role is determined by a number of factors including skills, experience, education, certifications and location. The full salary range for this role reflects the competitive labor market value for all employees in these positions across the national market and provides an opportunity to progress as employees grow and develop within the role. Some roles at Liberty Mutual have a corresponding compensation plan which may include commission and/or bonus earnings at rates that vary based on multiple factors set forth in the compensation plan for the role.
Description
  • Works closely with stakeholders (business and technology), including executive leadership, to define and prioritize features and stories, ensuring alignment with customer needs and organizational goals
  • Understands customers' needs in detail and ensures they are clearly defined, prioritized, and the squad(s) is focused on the most valuable work for the organization
  • Collaborates with Product Owners and Solutions Architects across the organization to develop a deep understanding of the capabilities, technologies, and platforms they support
  • Accountable for creating product vision and alignment with strategic priorities with stakeholders
  • Contributes to the development of the portfolio vision
  • Communicates the vision as a product strategy to their squad/team and other squads/teams outside their portfolio and functional area as well as executive leadership
  • With the squad, accountable for developing and achieving product level KPIs
  • Manages product(s) with high degree of strategy, scope, and complexity.
    Owns and maintains the product backlog and is accountable for its content and prioritization
  • Accountable for clear, actionable user stories
  • Sets priorities and actively participates in squad/ART quarterly planning.
    Sets expectations with stakeholders for delivery of new capabilities, features, and functionalities
  • Participates in squad demos, retrospectives, and all other ceremonies.
  • Works daily with the Agile working group clarifying business requirements, removing roadblocks, constantly communicating, and supporting alignment around product strategy
  • Leads IT and business leadership to align development and business goals and priorities while working with stakeholders and squad/team to remove roadblocks to execution
  • Monitors and maintains the product health.?Designs additional monitoring to support enhanced understanding of product health
  • Proactively monitors impact of their product on others in the ecosystem
  • Analyzes and reports on feasibility, cost of delay ramifications, economies, or other aspects of planned or potential changes to the product
  • Drives alignment with stakeholders to understand the impact that their products' regulatory, compliance, and other industry constraints will have on other products in the portfolio
  • Negotiates with squads across the entire ecosystem to align priorities both within and outside the portfolio
  • Builds the product roadmap and strategy based on ongoing input from stakeholders
  • Determines expected value and any changes in value to be delivered in each iteration (sprint, monthly, quarterly, etc.) based on the squad-determined capacity
  • Leads customer-driven design and usability testing for the squads/team and across the portfolio
  • Ensures a well-positioned product through market and industry analysis.
    Use internal data & analytics to measure impact of stories, epics & initiatives, prioritize backlog, set KPI goals, and build business case to support product vision
  • Mentor POs that have less experience, come from different portfolios or Industries
  • PO III often has dotted line oversite of other POs in an Agile Release Train
  • PO III is the primary owner of the strategy for their Product to deliver business outcomes
  • PO III owns alignment of stakeholders and be the ultimate decision maker on features implemented
  • Strong partnership with UX is required in the IAD Sales portfolio
  • Participate in user research, usability studies, confidence voting
  • PO is the arbiter of misalignments between UX, Stakeholders and Technology
  • May telecommute up to 60%
Qualifications
Employer will accept a Bachelor's degree in Software Engineering or related field and 5 years of experience in the job offered or in a Product Owner III-related occupation.
Position requires demonstrable experience in the following:
  • Agile development methodologies, teams, practices, and expectations.
    Proven business expertise setting clear priorities for products and understanding business value impacts
  • Making decisions with some level of uncertainty; guided by experience and data available to support decisions
  • Driving innovation amongst uncertainty and exploiting market opportunities.
  • Portfolio specific experience with insurance sales technology development for super regional or countrywide insurance carrier
  • Portfolio specific experience with Independent Agency channel knowledge; particularly knowledge of sales processes, variation of business models, competitor capabilities.
  • May telecommute up to 60%
