Life University is Hiring a Director of Athletic Health Care Near Atlanta, GA

The Director of Athletic Health Care provides oversight of the components of student-athlete well-being including athletic training and sports chiropractic and works in collaboration with strength & conditioning and performance nutrition. The Director of Athletic Health Care is also responsible for coordinating mental health, sport psychology, and nutrition resources to reach maximum effectiveness. This position is dedicated to the continuous assessment of student-athlete needs and provides a comprehensive, integrated approach to student-athlete health and well-being that mirrors Life University’s emphasis on health and wellness within a vitalistic philosophy. All responsibilities are expected to be performed in alignment with the department vision of being a leading institution in performance and meaningful student-athlete experience, and consistently demonstrating valued behaviors of respect, grit, constant growth, and integrity.
Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain a plan incorporating all areas of SA wellbeing (Athletic training, sports chiropractic, strength & conditioning, mental health/counseling, sport psychology, sleep education and nutrition) so that care is integrated.
  • Ensure constant communication between all areas of SA wellbeing.
  • Oversee the maintenance of all initial injury and follow-up care records.
  • Maintain overall budget for the department.
  • Hire/terminate/manage any staff, work study, or volunteers associated with Athletic Health Care department.
  • Collect annual student-athlete feedback via surveys.
  • Coordinate educational training sessions for all department staff and support continual staff professional skill development.
  • Organize yearly drug education programming and drug testing for all student-athletes.
  • Ensure proper liability and insurance coverage of all Life University Athletic Care staff, contractors, as well as ensure proper liability understanding of all groups visiting Life University campus.
  • Work closely with all University constituents to maintain effective and productive communication flows and operations.
  • Attend meetings as necessary and/or as requested by the Director of Athletics and other clinic, college, and University constituents.
  • Continuously assess student-athlete needs and work with appropriate constituents to maximize resources to meet these needs.
  • Monitor patient injury rates and clinical outcome measures of staff.
  • Comply with all Life University policies, all community, local, state and federal regulations, and the Life University Honor Code.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Director of Athletics.
Requirements
  • A doctorate (PhD, DC, DAT) or Master’s degree.
  • CPR/AED certification.
  • Model integrity, character and leadership.
  • Outstanding interpersonal, communication, and social skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with a broad range of constituents within a diverse community.
  • Ability to calmly evaluate and resolve routine conflicts.
Preferred Qualifications
  • A license to practice athletic training in the state of Georgia, or the attainment of such license within 60 days of acceptance of employment.
  • 4 years’ experience with a minimum of 3 years’ experience in athletic training in a collegiate setting.
  • Experience in developing and implementing sport injury management programs at the collegiate level.
  • Doctor of Athletic Training Degree
Physical Demands
  • Ability to relocate equipment and supplies to various locations for athletic events.
  • Ability to drive to various locations.
  • Ability to lift and carry 40 pounds.
Working Conditions
  • Work performed in a general office environment.
  • Nights/weekend required.
  • Travel required.
