Life University is Hiring a Librarian Near Marietta, GA

Under the direction of the Associate Director, the Part-time Librarian works as a team member to provide coverage and assistance for reference and information services, research support to the Life U community, and access services.

This position may require some evenings and weekends as needed. This position will help support the university by working weekend hours.

Responsibilities

  • Provides general and complex research assistance to library patrons in person and virtually using various communication technologies at the Research Assistance Desk (RAD).
  • Prepares physical and virtual instructional materials, including tutorials, handouts, bibliographies, research guides, and other materials as needed.
  • Assists patrons with proper use of the library, library technology, and resolves other issues that may arise.
  • Supports goals and objectives for the library’s research assistance services (RAS).
  • Maintains current knowledge of library instruction and reference services.
  • Contributes to the assessment of library activities, including the collection of statistics and preparation of reports.
  • Recommends new library services and resources, including collection development.
  • Provides coverage at the Circulation and AV desks.
  • Utilizes WMS Workflows (the library’s automated circulation system) to search, circulate, and reserve library materials (i.

e., books, audio, anatomical models).

  • Shelves library materials and participates in stack maintenance activities when needed.
  • Monitors the use of special collections.
  • Assists in maintaining library organization to promote a more favorable academic setting.
  • Answers patron questions in person, by phone, or by chat regarding library services, resources, and general campus queries.
  • Updates patron profiles with correct addresses, phone numbers, and extended notes.
  • Provides maintenance for the copiers (student and staff).
  • Uses library policies and procedures to answer questions and resolve problems.

Requirements

  • Three (3) years of professional working experience in an office or similar environment.
  • Strong technology skills, including Microsoft Office.
  • Familiarity with GALILEO, Library Management Systems, and Library of Congress classification.
  • Able to prioritize and manage multiple projects adhering to strict timelines.
  • High degree of initiative and independent judgment.
  • Skilled in the development and implementation of policies and procedures.
  • Strong attention to detail and information accuracy, ability to organize work assignments, solve problems, and perform duties with a high level of accuracy.
