Job Summary: Senior Development Officer/Fundraising

This position is responsible for the creation of development strategies, managing donor recognition programs and fundraising events, preparing internal and external communications, and overall support of the Vice President of University Advancement.

The Senior Development Officer/Fundraising must be able to collaborate with colleagues in the Development Department to maximize total gift revenue through gift planning, corporate and foundation relations, annual fund strategies and special event fundraising.

Responsibilities

* Senior member of the development staff; support all fundraising operations.

* Responsibilities include capital, programmatic and operational support for all fundraising from individuals, corporations and foundations.

* Participate in implementation and execution of strategy, goals and objectives of unrestricted, restricted and scholarship giving.

* Assist the Executive Director of Development in conjunction with the Vice President of University Advancement and Enrollment, to prepare an annual plan of action for development programs.

* Develop and maintain a portfolio of major gift ($10,000 - $100,000 range) prospects, beginning with 10 and increasing to 30 within 24 months.

* Potential commitments raised - annual and major gifts $100,000 per year for the first two years with an increase in following years.

* Participation in other non-fundraising activities that are related to the development program, including alumni relations, communications, marketing, athletics, and special events.

* Maintain an on-going review of literature about development as a means of enhancing procedures and performance within the development office.

* Cultivates, solicits and stewards donors to reach a personal fundraising goal that supports the fiscal goals of the Development Department, and in addition to the "A Brighter LIFE Capital Campaign".

* Reliable transportation method to travel as requested.

Requirements

* Master's degree in business or a related field or five (5) or more years of professional fundraising experience within a higher education or non-profit environment.

* Minimum of three (3) years supervisory experience is required.

* Proficient in CRM platforms.

* Strong presentation and meeting facilitation.

* Proven track record of closing fundraising prospects and achieving revenue goals.

* Industry experience at establishing, closing and expanding relationships.

* Strong sales and negotiation skills.

* Exceptional writing skills and experience.

* Ability to work with and maintain confidential employee information.

* Experience in development and implementation of policies and procedures.

* Team building and supervisory skills; organizational and staff development skills.

* Able to prioritize and manage multiple projects, adhering to strict timelines.

* Strong interpersonal skills.

* High degree of initiative and independent judgment.

* Well-developed analytical and problem-solving abilities.

* Ability to develop and manage budgets.

* Computer skills: Microsoft Office applications.

* Strong ties with professional and community leaders and potential donors.
