Job Title: Development Director – Major Gifts and Capital Campaigns
Department: External Relations
Reports To: Vice President of External Relations
FLSA: Exempt

SUMMARY
The Director of Development – Major Gifts and Capital Campaigns will serve as a key strategist in maximizing fundraising efforts, particularly focusing on major gifts acquisition and capital campaigns. The Director will play a pivotal role in identifying major gift prospects, cultivating donor relationships, and helping manage the Trails Neighborhood Capital Campaign, a transformative initiative aimed at expanding our supportive services for individuals.

BASIC FUNCTIONS AND GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Strategic Major Gifts Fundraising:
o Develop and implement strategic fundraising plans to secure major gifts from a portfolio of 200 individual donors, corporations, and foundations.
o Utilize data analysis tools to identify and qualify major gift prospects, tailoring cultivation and solicitation strategies accordingly.
o Cultivate and steward relationships with major gift donors, ensuring personalized engagement and recognition opportunities.
o Provide expertise in estate planning and securities giving to enhance donor engagement and maximize philanthropic impact.
• Capital Campaign Management:
o Collaborate with the CEO, Board of Directors, and campaign volunteers to set campaign goals and aid in the development of comprehensive campaign materials, including case statements, campaign prospectuses, and solicitation materials.
o Alongside Development team, help coordinate campaign events, donor cultivation activities, and volunteer engagement efforts to support campaign objectives.
o Manage campaign progress tracking and reporting, ensuring regular updates to stakeholders on fundraising goals and achievements.
o Work closely with the Development team to integrate capital campaign initiatives with broader fundraising strategies and initiatives.

• Donor Relationship Management:
o Maintain accurate donor records in the database, tracking interactions, preferences, and giving histories.
o Collaborate with the development team to organize donor events, cultivation activities, and stewardship initiatives for continued donor engagement.
o Develop and implement stewardship plans for major donors, ensuring timely and meaningful recognition of their support.
• Other duties and assignments as assigned.

Physical Expectations
This position may require extended periods of walking and/or standing with some periods of sitting. It may require light (5 lbs.) to heavy lifting (50 lbs.) and occasional stooping, kneeling, and/or bending.
Working Conditions
The employee may be exposed to office/home environment with noises from appliances, telephones, and other occupational noises
QUALIFICATIONS
• Bachelor's degree in nonprofit management, communications, business administration, or related field (Master's degree preferred).
• Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in major gifts fundraising, capital campaign management, and donor relationship management within the nonprofit sector.
• Strong proficiency in utilizing technology tools and data analysis software for donor engagement, campaign management, and fundraising strategies.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex ideas and concepts into compelling proposals and donor communications.
• Strategic thinker with demonstrated experience in developing and implementing successful major gifts fundraising and capital campaign strategies.
• Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills, capable of managing multiple projects simultaneously and meeting deadlines.
• Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and build relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
• Commitment to the mission and values of Life Unlimited, with a passion for serving individuals with disabilities and promoting inclusivity.
• The ability to effectively and efficiently use computers or mobile devices to input, access, modify, or output information. This includes the ability to quickly access, store and retrieve data.
• Current driver’s license with acceptable driving record and acces to reliable transportation to conduct visits to multiple sites plus attend community meetings.
• Must Receive Seasonal Flu Vaccination
