Overview:
Consistent with the mission, vision and values of Lifeline of Ohio, the Placenta Acquisition Coordinator (PAC) coordinates clinical aspects of birth tissue acquisition in collaboration with our Placenta team and other internal and external partners. They will also evaluate the suitability of patient referrals to be donors and follow all regulatory standards in placenta acquisition and documentation.
**This is a full-time, non-exempt, benefits eligible position. It is an 8-hour shift model, some weekend days required
Core Duties:
1) Prepares and maintains donor documentation to assure compliance with all federal and /or state governing agencies and industry guidelines
- Communicates with Placenta Team members and hospital partners to collect information needed for donation
- Communicates clinical information to Team Lead and or AOC and processing centers to determine suitability
- Documents pertinent information needed for the donation process
- Reviews available medical chart of the donor
- Documents proper identification of donors
- Performs documentation of information before, during, and after case
- Assures only consented tissue is acquired
2. Acquires birth tissue to maximize availability for transplant and/or research
- Prepares acquisition room for acquisition process
- Operates closely with hospital staff to perform physical exam and thoroughly document all findings
- Arranges instrumentation for the acquisition process
- Acquires placenta using aseptic technique according to processor guidelines and applicable regulations
3. Packages and labels tissue to effectively transport to shipping facility for processing
- Prepares processor specific boxes needed for shipment
- Packs all tissue and materials needed for shipment
- Ensures proper materials are present for shipping
4. Performs QA process on tissue chart and other materials needed for completion of chart to assure compliance with all federal and/or state governing agencies and industry guidelines
- Ensures accurate documentation of charts during QA process
- Ensures accurate documentation standards are met and any deviation or departures are reported
Requirements
Education and Experience:
- Experience in healthcare related field, knowledge of human anatomy, sterile and aseptic technique, medical terminology or equivalent
- High school diploma required
