Job Summary:

The Apheresis Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for providing specialized nursing care to patients undergoing apheresis procedures. The RN will work closely with patients, families, and a multidisciplinary healthcare team to ensure safe and effective apheresis treatments. This role involves patient assessment, procedure preparation, equipment operation, and post-procedure care.

Key Responsibilities:

Patient Assessment:

• Conduct thorough patient assessments prior to apheresis procedures, including medical history review, physical examination, and evaluation of lab results.
• Monitor and document patient vital signs and response to treatment throughout the procedure.

Procedure Preparation:

• Prepare and set up apheresis equipment according to established protocols and manufacturer guidelines.
• Ensure all necessary supplies and medications are available and properly stored.
• Educate patients and families about the apheresis procedure, including potential risks and benefits.

Procedure Management:

• Perform apheresis procedures, including therapeutic plasma exchange, stem cell collection, and other related treatments.
• Operate and troubleshoot apheresis machines, ensuring proper function and safety.
• Administer medications as prescribed and manage any adverse reactions or complications.

Post-Procedure Care:

• Provide post-procedure care and instructions to patients, including follow-up care and emergency contact information.
• Document all aspects of patient care accurately and promptly in the medical record.

Collaboration and Communication:

• Collaborate with physicians, other nurses, and healthcare professionals to develop and implement individualized care plans.
• Communicate effectively with patients, families, and the healthcare team to ensure coordinated care.

Compliance and Safety:

• Adhere to all hospital and departmental policies, procedures, and guidelines.
• Maintain a safe and clean work environment, following infection control and safety protocols.
• Participate in continuing education and professional development opportunities to stay current with advances in apheresis and nursing practice.

Qualifications:

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program (BSN preferred).
• Current RN license in the state of [Insert State].

Experience:

• Minimum of 2 years of clinical nursing experience, with a preference for experience in apheresis, hematology, oncology, or critical care.

Certifications:

• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification preferred.
• Certification in Apheresis Nursing (e.g., ASFA) is highly desirable.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $80,000.00 - $950,000.00 per year
