We are currently seeking a Quality Control Non-Destructive Inspector in Corona, NY.
As a (an) Quality Control Non- Destructive Inspector your day-to-day duties will consist of and may not be limited to:
Responsibilities:
- Performs nondestructive test (NDT) inspection for acceptance or rejection on rail cars including related components and materials, specially welded joints, with liquid penetrant test examination (PT), magnetic particle test examination (MT), and ultrasonic examination (UT) methods as per industry standards requirements.
- Shall be either qualified and certified on all three methods as per the American Society of Nondestructive Testing (ASNT) NDT as level II in accordance with the latest edition of ASNT recommended practice no. ASNT SNT-TC-1A or be capable of becoming qualified and certified after proper training through a third party as per ASNT SNT-TC-1A.
- Performs general Quality Control (QC) inspection on parts and sub-assemblies of rail cars. Performs visual inspection of parts and equipment to ensure conformance to quality standards and to identify non-conformance where it occurs. Performs all work according to engineering drawings, written work procedures, and verbal and written instructions.
- Evaluate, record, and document clearly the results of inspections with a high degree of accuracy, completeness and attention to details for submittal to QC manager for eventual customer approval
- Create NDT inspection procedure as needed.
- Maintain the certification through the length of employment
- Become familiarized with the “Visual Inspection Criteria of Weld Joints” assigned project to assist and/or support company welding inspector (CWI) including paperwork if needed.
- Be able to work alone with or without supervision and interact with other personnel.
- Be able to be relocated and/or travel among company projects field locations activities
Qualifications:
- Must have at minimum, two (2) years’ work experience in NDT inspection and/or QC Inspection field.
- Must be able to work independently.
- Must be capable of using measuring instruments including, but not limited to, tape measures, calipers, micrometers, etc.
- Must read, write, and speak English and know how to read engineering drawings (blueprints).
- Must be proficient in the English measurement system and be able to learn the Metric system of measurement within a specified period.
- Must be capable of working in an active field environment, be able to climb stairs and ladders, and be able to lift, push, or pull at maximum 40 lbs.
DETAILS:
Duration: Contract temp to hire
Location: Corona, NY.
Salary: $23-$33 Per/Hr.
Shift: 1st.
