Pennsylvania**Job Description**

**RESPONSIBILITIES:**

The Associate Fashion Designer, Tunics, Mens & Boys, Outerwear, and Off-Cadence Product is responsible to assist with the fashion design and development of Tunics, Mens & Boys, Outerwear, and Off-Cadence Product seasonal styles consistent with the marketing position of Lilly Pulitzer. The Associate Fashion Designer will also be called upon to provide support for chase and fashion fast track styles. This is done under the direction of the Fashion Designer, Tunics, Mens & Boys, Outerwear, and Off-Cadence Product. The goal of all product is to delight the consumer, which is measured by sales.

This position is responsible primarily to assist with silhouette and artwork development, organization, communication, design boards and fashion illustrations. The seven primary responsibilities of The Associate Fashion Designer are as follows:

* understand the Lilly Pulitzer customer and positioning in the marketplace;

* protect the core, contribute to the development of innovative apparel fashion designs for the Lilly Pulitzer customer;

* develop innovative trim and artwork;

* maintain design boards and fashion illustrations;

* maintain all activities consistent with the product development calendar;

* maintain all computer programs the design team uses throughout the season in designing the line;

* Perform other duties as required by design.

The seven primary responsibilities are discussed below.

**Understand the Lilly Pulitzer****** **Customer, Lifestyle and Positioning in the Marketplace.**

* Lilly Pulitzer is a lifestyle, branded marketing company serving the needs of the affluent customer at ease. The companys positioning is Lillys Resort Chic and has four distinct key competitive advantages;

* Print the Lilly Pulitzer brand has a distinct, unique & iconic print style.

* Authentic Resort the brand has an authentic and inherent understanding of the resort lifestyle.

* Optimism the brand has an optimistic outlook, it is colorful and happy.

* Multi generational the brand is multigenerational relating to several generations.

* Know and appreciate the Lilly Pulitzer customer. This includes understanding the taste, fashion and lifestyle preferences and characteristics of the customer who buys ladies and childrens merchandise. Recognize why the customer purchases Lilly Pulitzer merchandise instead of competing products. Translate this into products that delight the customer and sell effectively.

* Visit first hand locations where the Lilly Pulitzer customer lives the lifestyle and shops for Lilly Pulitzer merchandise.

* Spend sufficient time in retail stores and on-line to understand the customer, merchandise and marketplace. Visit Lilly Pulitzer stores; understand what is selling at retail, and competitive trends.

**Protect the core, assist with silhouette and artwork development designs that delight the Lilly Pulitzer customer, increase full price net sales, have high full price retail sell through and contribute to the profitable growth of the company.**

* Contribute to the development of silhouettes, as directed by the Fashion Designer.

* Protect the evolution of the established core product, apply subtle design updates as needed.

* Attend all fittings, take accurate fitting notes and assist the Fashion Designer in respect to the interface with Technical Design. This is for prototype samples, sales samples and final production specifications. Update sketches and descriptions to technical design so technical design understands the fashion design intent for the style as requested by the Fashion Designer.

**Develop Innovative Trim and Artwork.**

* Work with Fashion Designer and trim team to create new and innovative trims each season.

* Create artwork, stitch development, embroidery, appliqu and embellishments on a seasonal basis as necessary. This artwork can be drawn by hand or on Computer Aided Design.

* Organize and maintain the libraries of submits for both trim and artwork.

**Maintain Design Boards and Fashion Illustrations.**

* Create design boards. Update design boards to reflect all current editing of the line, from the time sales samples are ordered, until the final line is presented on sale.

* Illustrate flats for presentation on Computer Aided Design.

* Assist in the development of line sheets and sales manuals for the sales force.

* Set up and maintain seasonal development books.

**Maintain all activities consistent with the product development calendar**

* Meet all deadlines for PLM, BOM handoffs, embroidery handoffs, and design boards.

**Maintain all computer programs the design team uses throughout the season in designing**

**the line.**

* PLM Add and maintain styles for the season, Build and maintain style tech paks

* Adobe Illustrator Exhibit proficiency in sketching flat and technical design sketches in Adobe Illustrator.

**Perform Other Duties as may be required by Design.**

* Maintain art supplies.

* Organize information and files for efficient management of the department

* Communicate daily & build relationships with factories, agents and team members to follow up on status and inspire an open communication flow with attention to details.

* Inform design of vital fashion and business trends seen in the market.

* Perform other duties as may be required.

**SKILLS REQUIRED TO PERFORM SUCCESSFULLY:**

* Genuine excitement for the Lilly Pulitzer concept. The Associate Fashion Designer must understand the vision for the merchandise, consistent with the positioning in the marketplace.

* Specific knowledge of womens tunics and outerwear is preferred, but not required.

* Proficient skills in silhouette and artwork development.

* Working knowledge of CAD including photoshop, and the aptitude and willingness to learn new applications of Computer Aided Design as needed.

* Basic personal computer skills, such as Word and Excel in a Microsoft Windows environment, are helpful.

* The sense of urgency necessary in the apparel industry.

* Sufficient organization skills and detail orientation to maintain useful print, color, trim and design libraries.

**EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:**

* A four year college degree is required. This must be in fashion design or a closely related subject.

* 2-3 years of prior experience in a fashion design position.

**MISCELLANEOUS:**

* This position is classified as full-time salaried; it is exempt and is not eligible for overtime. This position is eligible for standard company fringe benefits.

* The position requires some travel.

* Given the seasonality of the business, this position may require flexible, additional working hours during peak periods.

* This position is based in King of Prussia, Pennsylvania, a suburb of Philadelphia.

* This position is reviewed annually.
