Job Title: IN-SCHOOL-SUSPENSION/ATTENDANCE AIDE

Supervised by/Reports to: Principal and Assistant Principal

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Job Goals:

  • Good attendance is necessary to ensure success in school.
  • Through the use of an attendance aide, we want to make certain that no student “slips through the cracks” and develops a truancy problem.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma and successful passage of the Work Keys Test is required.
  • Two-years of college or equivalent desired.

Performance Responsibilities and Essential Functions:

ISS AIDE:

  • Direct supervision of students assigned to the ISS Program. This supervision will include lunchtime and any bathroom break during the school day.
  • Notification of the parents of students involved in ISS. Maintains parent contacts as appropriate.
  • Maintains records and reports associated with the ISS Program.
  • Contacts the regular classroom teacher to obtain homework and class work assignments.
  • Ensures that ISS students are aware on any and all work that the classroom teacher assigns.
  • Oversees testing and exams of students in ISS.
  • The ISS Aide will inform all extra-curricular activity sponsors to ensure that the sponsor knows that the student cannot compete in any after school activities until ISS placement is completed.
  • The ISS Aide will enforce all system, school and ISS rules.

ATTENDANCE AIDE:

  • The Attendance Aide will work closely with the teachers and administration to obtain good attendance from each student.
  • Each day the Attendance Aide will call the parents of all students’ whose name appears on the absentee list and the check out list.
  • Responses from parents will be noted and current information will be given to the parents regarding the number of absences their child has.
  • Patterns of absences will be noted and called to the principal’s attention. The principal and/or assistant principal will counsel suspected truants.
  • The attendance aide will document unexcused absences and schedule conferences with parents of students who are in danger of being placed in the Early Warning Truancy Prevention Program.
Performs other job-related duties as assigned by Supervisor(s).

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk and use hands to finger, to handle, or feel objects, equipment, or controls. The employee frequently is required to talk and hear. The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms, climb stairs, bend, stoop, squat, crouch and kneel. The employee must occasionally lift, push, pull carry and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include near vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.

Salary: Salary to be established by The Limestone County School’s District Salary Schedule.
