Direct Support Professional Job Description

Position Summary:
The Direct Support Professional is responsible for a variety of duties related to the overall care of individuals with developmental disabilities who attend Limitless Disability Services. This includes direct care of program individuals and the implementation of their individual service plans (ISP).

Responsibilities:
● Establishing a secure, positive environment that nurtures clients’ needs, self-expression and goals.
● Overseeing clients and taking care of their physical, emotional and personal development needs.
● Advancing clients’ decision-making, productivity, and participation in a range of quality of life and skill building activities.
● Promoting independence in daily activities, such as work, learning, and leisure.
● Facilitate inclusion in the community’s experiences and activities.
● Maintaining knowledge of clients’ requirements.
● Complying with facility’s policies and procedures.
● Maintaining documentation in compliance with company procedures.
● Participate in other job related duties as assigned during the business day.
● Maintaining all required annual training, as outlined in the employee handbook
● Helping clients access community resources

Qualifications:
Minimum high school diploma or GED equivalent. CPR certification, Limitless will send for certification after 90 days. Must pass a background check. Can quickly manage stressful situations, patiently, responsibly and effectively. Strong interpersonal skills and passionate about(working alongside those with disabilities, to both teach and learn from) helping those in need.The ability to effectively organize and oversee a team of volunteers. Previous experience working with individuals with disabilities is preferred.

Supervisory Responsibilities:
This position supervises volunteers that work alongside clients.

Physical Requirements:
Ability to handle physical aspects of the job, including bending, stooping, lifting, pushing, pulling, reaching, and walking for periods of time. Ability to lift/push/pull up to 50 lbs. Ability to move and stand for prolonged periods and frequently perform physically demanding tasks.

Pay: $15.00 - $17.00 per hour
