Essential ResponsibilitiesEnsure compliance with all legislative requirements in the facility’s geographic location and:
- The Global Operating System Plays;
- OHSAS 18001:2007 Health and Safety management system standard;
- ISO 14001:2015 Environmental Management system standard;
- IATF 16949:2016 Technical Specification Management and Linamar Quality Basics system standards
- Support, Foster, Promote and Demonstrate Linamar’s Core Values and Leadership Behaviors.
- Maintain balance between customer, employee and financial satisfaction by maximizing facility/department Performance Indicators to align to Linamar’s Stepping Stool of Success Strategy.
- Support and maintain department lean initiatives as set out in LPS system requirements.
- Maintain department 5S requirements.
- Work to continuously improve all areas of productivity and reduce scrap.
- Submit and implement lean & safety suggestions.
- Operate machine tools to perform repetitive machining operations, such as turning, milling, drilling, boring, planning, honing, broaching, grinding or other machining operations many include basic set up processes.
- Verify dimensions of parts machined using micrometers, calipers and other precision measuring instruments.
- Perform routine maintenance on equipment and machinery (e.g., cleaning).
- Produce quality parts in order to meet production goals.
- Perform quality checks as required.
- Complete all necessary documentation for each part.
- Identify “out of tolerance” parts and report any nonconformance.
- Perform Pre-flight inspections at the start of each shift and report any sub-standard conditions or hazards found to supervisor.
- Provide guidance and train incoming Machine Operators.
- Adhere to all H&S and environmental laws and procedures.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Essential Skills
- Ability to read, write, speak and understand English fluently.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to meet or exceed the company’s attendance standards.
- Ability to understand and follow directions given.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Basic shop math

- Read and interpret Product Specifications
- Interact with supervisors to take direction on job assignments, to seek clarification on unclear drawings or job instructions, and to seek help when problems arise.

- Ability to learn new specifications and procedures through on-the-job training and experience
- Required PPE includes steel-toe shoes, safety glasses with side shields, ear plugs, and gloves.
- Working in a hot atmosphere
- Working on, over, and around equipment that emits heat.
- Prolonged standing.
- Ability to walk.
- Handing oils, chemicals, and sharp objects.
- Ability to perform fine motor skills.
- Ability to perform repetitive movements (e.g., gripping, turning wrists, reaching, twisting at waist, lifting).
- Ability to pick up, lift, carry, and push up to 30 lbs. without accommodation.
- Visual acuity in order to inspect parts for damage and errors.
- Ability to hear.
