Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts is Hiring a Grant Writer Near New York, NY

Position : Grant Writer
Role Overview: Reporting to the Director of Institutional Giving, the Grant Writer participates in a comprehensive foundation fundraising program for Lincoln Center’s performance series, education programs, community engagement initiatives, and special projects. Responsibilities include identifying funding opportunities, communicating directly with foundation representatives to discuss potential requests, and preparation of grant proposals, applications, reports, budgets and correspondence.
Responsibilities:
  • Manage and grow a fundraising portfolio of foundation donors, focusing on support for education, community engagement, and other Lincoln Center projects & initiatives
  • Execute writing assignments as directed, including gift acknowledgments, donor correspondence and internal briefing memos
  • Manage stewardship of active grants in the fundraising portfolio as well as select program endowments
  • Manage foundation prospecting efforts; participate in the ongoing expansion of the donor base at all levels through prospect identification and screening, research and strategic cultivation/solicitation
  • Participate in developing fundraising strategy for the overall annual foundation goal as well as specific programs and projects
  • Manage the tracking and reporting of departmental performance metrics. Prepare regular activity reports measuring progress toward goal against projections
  • Work collaboratively with Programming, Finance, Accounting and Marketing colleagues to develop program descriptions, budgets and other materials as required for proposals and reports, and to share with Planning and Development colleagues
  • Represent Lincoln Center and/or the Planning and Development Department as needed, including assistance with special events
  • Such other duties and responsibilities as are reasonably related to the duties and responsibilities listed above
Education:
  • Bachelors’ in Business Management, Finance, or equivalent years of experience.
Qualifications:
  • Minimum 3-4 years of grant writing experience required, preferably in the arts
  • Familiarity with funding opportunities and application processes
  • Proficiency in database programs required (Pledgemaker, Tessitura, Clearview preferred), as well MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Working knowledge of research resources for foundation and government fundraising
  • Desire to be part of a dynamic, fast-paced, collaborative, results-oriented team
  • Excellent judgement
  • Strong budgeting acumen for preparation of grant proposals and reports
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and prioritize multiple deadlines
  • Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail and flexibility
  • Knowledge of the performing arts, particularly in New York City is preferred, but not required
