Lincoln County SD is Hiring a Commission Recorder Near Canton, SD

 
 

The Lincoln County Auditor invites applicants to join their team of five, who all have their own specialty supporting the County while collaborating together to serve the citizens of Lincoln County. As a Commission Recorder your primary role will be to attend County Commission meetings and ensure the accuracy of meeting minutes, while also managing licensing and bid letting processes, monitoring contracts and agreements, and other various tasks the Auditor's Office has. If you have a desire to serve your community and have excellent multi-tasking skills - this may be the position for you!

Job Responsibilities: 

  • Attend County Commission meetings. Record all actions including reviewing materials, drafting minutes, scheduling legal publications, and maintaining permanent storage of official records.
  • Attend various after-hour meetings including Joint County Commission/City Council, and the annual Board of Equalization to record minutes, and record actions.
  • Complete the entire publication process, including preparation, submission, and verification of publications. Prepare payables for publications.
  • Assist the County Auditor and Election Specialist in the election process by processing absentee ballots, answering voter questions, and helping with the completion of county elections.
  • Manage Freedom of Information Act requests by coordinating and compiling required information within guidelines and regulations and communicating with the appropriate parties involved.
  • Maintain contract/agreement files. Review all County contracts for accuracy, distribute copies, and maintain electronic and paper records and files.
  • Maintain and track all applications submitted and licenses granted through the Board of Commission.
  • Assist and provide information to the public, other departments, and coworkers by phone, mail, and direct contact.

Applicants Should Have:

Associate degree in public or business administration, or a closely related field plus two years of work experience in an administrative capacity. A comparable combination of education and experience may be considered. Must successfully complete pre-employment background process.

Highly Qualified Candidates Will Be:

Knowledge of governmental procedures and experience recording minutes.
