Job Description
In this position the Engineer will be responsible for the following:
Provide mechanical engineering oversight to a group of electrical design engineers developing new RF and Microwave components and subsystems.
Provide necessary mechanical engineering support during the transition of new products to production
The position also provides project coordination support to the design group by monitoring milestones and updating schedules for all projects.
The position requires an individual that is comfortable in a fast-paced environment to deliver products to customers on time, while meeting or exceeding all requirements and delivering profitable products when transitioned to production.
Apply principles of mechanical engineering and utilize Finite Element Modeling and simulation software to mechanically optimize new military and aerospace products
Develop and document mechanical design best practices for new and existing product families
Other responsibilities include:
Review, optimize and approve all new mechanical drawings
Ensure new products are mechanically designed to meet all applicable regulatory standards (MIL, ANSI, ASTM, etc.)
Use FEM tools to perform detailed analyses and generate reports to show compliance with customer's environmental requirements like vibration, shock, temperature and pressure
Estimate costs, components utilized in new products, including material and labor of internally machined or fabricated housings/ covers in support of quotes for new products
Collaborates with internal teams to develop and optimize new and existing mechanical processes required to support new products
Provide technical support to internal departments (Production, purchasing, etc.) to ensure that all mechanical components needed for prototypes are procured and delivered on time.
Participate in all required project meetings (Project kick offs, peer design reviews, schedule reviews, and pre-ship reviews, etc.)
Mentor and coach other design engineers, and team members (drafters, technicians, etc.) that have less experience or knowledge int the mechanical engineering field
A willingness to continuously learn and propose to management the latest industry technology, trends, newest materials, and processes that can position the company to have a competitive edge in the marketplace
