Lincoln University of Missouri is Hiring an Area Educator II 4-H and Youth Development - JC Near Jefferson, MO

Position Summary

This position will assist the 4-H and Youth Development State Specialist and Cooperative Extension Administrators. It will focus on positive Youth Development and will provide compelling and impactful research-based programming that meets the needs of low-income, limited resource youth who are underserved and unserved and may be living in marginalized communities.

Essential Functions, Duties, and Responsibilities

  • Work in partnership with schools and other youth-serving organizations, community-based collaborators and 4-H groups to deliver programs that address the specific needs of limited-resource and socially disadvantaged youth, based on changing social economic and demographic factors.
  • Develop programs to be aligned with the Lincoln University State Extension Plan of Work - including but not limited to, focus on healthy lifestyles, leadership development, STEAM education, social justice, academic achievement and workforce readiness.
  • Solicit and secure extramural funding, may include grant proposal writing.
  • Design and produce engaging fact-sheets related to subject matter.
  • Plan, design, implement, teach, and evaluate innovative programming in the area of Youth Development that demonstrates a measurable impact.
  • Manages program budget.
  • May supervise volunteers, students, and program participants.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Required:

  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Computer proficiency to include MS Office.
  • Ability to work independently and as a part of a larger team.

Preferred:

  • Ability to read, speak, and understand Spanish.

Education and Experience

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in child/adolescent development, psychology, primary or secondary education, or a closely related field is required.
  • Minimum of one year of work experience conducting youth programming with low-income, ethnically diverse, underserved and unserved audiences in informal group settings.

Preferred:

  • Demonstrated success in securing extramural resources through donations, gifts, and grant funds.
  • Demonstrated success conducting educational sessions via distance learning and on virtual platforms.
  • Demonstrated success in teaching and developing audience contacts with social media.
