CO2 Production Technician

Job Overview:

Linde Gases U.S. is currently seeking a Carbon Dioxide (CO2) Production Technician in Ferndale, WA. The technician is responsible for maintaining a safe, clean, reliable, and efficient operating plant. The technician must have or develop problem solving capabilities in mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, and production processes. Technicians must demonstrate teamwork, initiative, and self-motivation while working with minimal supervision. In addition to regularly scheduled work hours, technicians must be available for 24-hour on-call duties on a rotating schedule, typically one day per week plus one weekend per month.

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Perform and record plant safety, quality, and compliance activities.
  • Start up, shutdown, monitor, and operate production processes.
  • Perform routine maintenance and calibrations on a variety of process equipment including reciprocating compressors, pumps, gas analyzers, control systems, electrical systems and process control valves.
  • Troubleshoot and repair defective equipment, electrical components, and production processes.
  • Plan and execute operations and maintenance tasks.
  • Purchase materials and services in support of plant operations and maintenance activities.
  • Perform limited administrative duties such as maintenance of plant reports, process documentation, and monthly expense reporting.
Qualifications:
  • Trade School, apprenticeship, or a trades-related associate degree preferred.
  • 2 or more years production operations experience in an industrial environment.
  • Experience in the following fields:
    • CO2 or similar industrial gas production.
    • General maintenance of industrial equipment.
    • Industrial mechanical maintenance.
    • Compressors and compressor maintenance.
    • Instrumentation and control.
    • Industrial electrical systems.
    • Military technical/maintenance fields, e. g. Machinist Mate, Electrician Mate, Gas Turbine Technician, Boiler Technician, Cryogenic Technician.

  • Ability to conduct self-directed learning.

Physical Capabilities and Working Conditions:

The technician must be able to sit, stand, climb, walk, read, talk, see, and hear to perform the essential functions of this role. Additional activities for this role include:

  • Walking on flat or uneven surfaces and in areas of crushed stone.
  • Bending, stooping, and working from elevated positions
  • Use of stairs and ladders for elevated work.
  • Lifting 5 to 15 lbs loads performed daily.
  • Lifting 15 to 45 lbs loads intermittently.
  • Lifting 45 to 75 lbs loads occasionally.
  • Upper body work activities, including using wrenches, hammers, and similar hand tools.
  • Use of power tools such as drills, saws, and grinders.
  • Use of multimeters and calibration devices.
  • Use of hands and fingers for fine manipulation work, e. g. calibration tuning.
  • Use of PPE including but not limited to hard hat, safety glasses, hearing protection, safety boots, gloves, and full-face respirator.
  • Drive a service (pickup) truck up to 3 hours per day typical, and longer duration day trips on occasion.
  • Occasionally operate industrial equipment such as forklifts, overhead cranes, and personnel lifts.
  • Occasionally perform computer work and other administration duties in an office setting.
  • Works indoors or outdoors in various weather conditions.
