Prominent fashion retail company in NYC is seeking an Accounting Manager to join their team. The Accounting Manager will oversee daily operations within the accounting department, conduct financial reporting and analysis, and participate in various ad hoc department initiatives and special projects.

Responsibilities:

• Manage daily accounting activity of the business unit, including recording and reviewing journal entries posted to the general ledger
• Ensure accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes
• Preparation and analysis of financial results; Prepare annual financial plan (budget) and periodic forecasts; Compare actual financial results to forecast and provide variance
• Assist with establishing and implementing proper accounting methods, policies, and principles
• Review the work and evaluates the performance of assigned staff.
• Work closely with the Financial Controller to prepare regular reports supporting subsidiary management in key decisions through variance analysis, cost reductions, profitability enhancement, and planning & forecasting
• Support monthly/quarterly/yearly close, ensuring accurate inventory and cost of sales reconciliation, proper accruals and reserves calculation, and complete and accurate reporting
• Provide support for the annual audit
• Promote compliance with Corporate policies & guidelines, applicable accounting principles, and legislative requirements

Requirements:

• Bachelor's or advanced degree in Accounting required; CPA is a plus
• Experience in the retail industry as a senior accountant, accounting manager or auditor
• Current or previous public accounting experience is preferred
• Strong understanding of basic US GAAP
• Intermediate or Advanced knowledge of MS Excel
• Excellent communication skills
