JOB TITLE : Mascot Performer, Dugout

SUMMARY : Dugout is a highly visible performer who acts as a representative of Little League and is responsible for bringing to life the character, spirit, and core values of our organization by portraying our beloved Mascot.

This role is vital in creating a memorable and entertaining experience for guests / fans, engaging with audiences of all ages, and enhancing the overall guest / fan engagement at events, games, and promotional activities.

We are looking for someone to serve as our Dugout performer during a portion of the 2024 Little League Softball World Series, Presented by DICK’S Sporting Goods, for our Opening Ceremonies on August 3, as well as portions of games throughout the day on August 6 and August 7 (subject to change).

MAJOR TASKS, DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES :

Assume the persona of the Mascot character and convey emotions, energy, and enthusiasm through exaggerated movements, gestures, and body language.

• Perform dance routines, stunts, and crowd interactions to entertain and engage fans during games and events.
• Encourage audience participation and posing for photos with fans.
• Assist in marketing campaigns and merchandise sales with Mascot’s presence during promotions.
• Maintain the Mascot costume, ensuring it remains in good condition and is clean and safe for each performance.
• Be punctual and prepared for all performances.

7. Represent and be an ambassador for Little League appropriately throughout the community.

8. Create respectable, wholesome, and appropriate dance routines and other forms of mascot related entertainment, crowd engagement and fan interactions with your target audience for children.

9. Do not break character while in costume and only go in and out of character in changing facility.

10. Do not divulge that you play the character of Dugout to others.

11. Responsible for creating goodwill in the community.

12. Create a positive atmosphere and experience that everyone will remember.

13. Ability to troubleshoot situations without delay and act accordingly.

14. Required to take a 10-minute break after a 20-minute performance, as well as remain hydrated throughout the event.

15. Follow Handler’s leads to ensure safety at all times allowing Handler to be your eyes, ears, mouth.

QUALIFICATIONS :

• Due to costume restrictions, there is a maximum height restriction 5’7
• Excellent physical stamina and endurance to perform in a Mascot costume for extended periods, often in varying weather conditions.
• Strong non-verbal communication skills, including the ability to convey emotions and enthusiasm through physical gestures and expressions.
• High energy and enthusiasm.
• A friendly and engaging personality, with the ability to interact positively with fans / guests and represent the organization and its core values professionally.
• Comfortable performing in a confined costume with limited visibility and mobility, adapting to different performance environments and situations.
• Prioritize safety, following safety protocols, and ensuring the well-being of both the performer and fans.
• Flexibility in work hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, to accommodate the organization's event schedule.
• Must be able to work with fans / guests of all ages.
• Must pass rigorous background checks in accordance with law and have child abuse clearance.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORKING CONDITIONS :

1. Must be able to lift 40 pounds.

2. Must be in excellent physical condition and energetic with the ability to run, jump and dance for 20 minutes at a time while in a costume that weighs approximately 20 pounds.

3. Must pass pre-employment physical.

4. Must not be claustrophobic and be able to wear an enclosed and constraining costume

5. Must be able to perform in costume in all-weather temperatures.

6. Some travel may be required for performances out of the area.

7. Evening and weekend hours are required.
