Little Rock School District is Hiring an ESOL Teacher/Interventionist (Bilingual Preferred) Near Little Rock, AR

JOB GOAL:

The ESOL Core Replacement Teacher/Interventionist primary duty will consist of providing instruction for students identified as ESL/LMS and or working below grade level in any of the subject areas as well as providing instructional knowledge and assistance to classroom teachers.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

Nine and one-fourth (9.25) – Month Contract Position, (190 days), plus Benefit Package NOTE: Precise placement within the salary range will be determined based upon education and experience. This position is reviewed annually and is contingent upon continued funding FLSA:EXEMPT

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

The following statements of duties and responsibilities are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by individuals assigned to this position. These statements are not intended to be an exhaustive list of all duties and responsibilities required of all personnel within this position.

  • Will provide instruction/interventions for K-2 grade students who are identified as ESOL/LEP and or working below grade level in any of the subject below grade level.
  • Collaborate with grade level in planning daily lessons, analyzing data, and providing appropriate interventions/modifications.
  • Monitor student progress.
  • Serve on LPAC: Maintain paperwork for students identified as LMS.
  • Observe students in their classrooms to ensure transfer and success of intervention.
  • Provide small group instruction for students in grades K-2.
  • Communicates student’s progress to parents and teachers as well as instructional leaders in the school.
  • Participates in creating an environment conducive to the learning and growth of all children.
  • Enters data online and prepares reports for school and district.
  • Attends professional development as necessary.
  • Administers Various assessments as well as but not limited to ELDA, MAC II, and Diagnostic Tests to children.
  • Collaborate to provide to provide professional development to classroom teachers on effective teaching strategies for students.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Valid Arkansas teaching certificate in Elementary Education PR-4. Minimum of a

Bachelor’s degree.
2. ESL endorsement and additional work with SIOP I and SIOP II training is desired.
3. Three or more years of recent classroom experience at the primary level, preference

given to work with English language learners.
4. Bilingual – Proficient in speaking English as well as Spanish or willing to learn.
5. Expertise and experience related to literacy and second language acquisition is required.
6. Mastery of effective instructional techniques and strategies that lead to improved student
achievement in all content areas.
7. Knowledge of implementation of best ESL practices as well as integrating in a mainstream
classroom.
8. Knowledge of interventions appropriate for English language learners and the RTI

Process.
9. Evidence of strong organizational skills.
10. Evidence of expert use of technology both at the instructional level and usage level.
11. Strong interpersonal skills.
12. Evidence of strong oral and written communication skills.
13. Strong work ethic and leadership abilities.
14. Conviction that all children can and will learn in the Little Rock School District.

Mental Functions, Physical Requirements, and Working Conditions:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, go up and down stairs, operate foot and hand controls, use a telephone and write. Occasionally the employee must lift and/or move up to twenty (20) or more pounds. This position requires accurate perceiving of sound, near and far vision, depth perception, handling and working with educational materials and/or objects, and providing oral information. Must have the ability to work for the duration of the daily contracted time period, and to be physically present and at assigned work, with only infrequent unexcused absences, during the contract year. Additional technical skills, knowledge, and abilities may be recommended by immediate supervisor and approved by the Human Resources Director.
