Littleton Regional Healthcare is Hiring a SLEEP TECH 1/REGISTERED - Nights 7p-7a Near Littleton, NH

JOB SUMMARY: 36 Hours- 7p-7a (Night Shift)A Registered Polysomnographic Technologist performs comprehensive polysomnographic testing and analysis, and associated interventions under the general supervision of the practice manager and clinical director (MD, PhD, DO) or designee.
Primary Functions
  • Review history, physical information, medication s, procedure request, and study protocol.
  • Complete and verify documentation.
  • Explain the procedure and orient the patient to the sleep center.
  • Apply electrodes and sensors according to American Academy of Sleep Medicine (AASM) standards and protocols.
  • Perform appropriate physiologic calibrations to ensure proper signals and make adjustments and troubleshoot if necessary.
  • Perform routine positive airway pressure (PAP) mask fitting.
  • Follow procedural protocols such as Multiple Sleep Latency Test (MSLT), Maintenance of Wakefulness Test (MWT), continuous positive airway pressure titration (CPAP), Oxygen titration, ETCO2 monitoring, baseline polysomnography (PSG), adaptive servo ventilation titrations (ASV), and set up home sleep testing equipment (HST) to ensure collection of appropriate data.
  • Perform polysomnographic data acquisition while monitoring study tracing to ensure signals are artifact-free and make adjustments as necessary.
  • Document routine observations and interventions including sleep staging, clinical events, changes in procedure, and other significant events in order to facilitate scoring and interpretation of polysomnographic results.
  • Implement appropriate interventions including those necessary for patient safety and therapeutic interventions such as continuous and bi-level positive airway pressure, oxygen administration, etc.
  • Demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to recognize and provide age specific care in the treatment, assessment, and education of pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients.
  • Scoring of sleep/wake stages, clinical events to include cardiac events, respiratory events , limp movements, and arousals according to AASM guidelines.
  • Report generation, typing, filing, and delivery.
  • Responsible for general and technical l troubles hooting and may become the "go to" person for technical issues relating to equipment and software.
  • Comply with applicable laws, regulations, guidelines and standards regarding safety and infection control issues.
  • Perform routine and complex equipment care, maintenance, and cleaning procedures.
  • Properly records charges for billing purposes.
  • Maintains all required documentation.
  • Assist with general operations of sleep lab as assigned i.e., patient intake; follow up with durable medical equipment companies, quality management and compliance, insurance prior authorizations.
  • Assist in developing and revising departmental policies and procedures upon request.
  • Assist with marketing of program and education of allied health staff (nurse, respiratory, etc.)
  • Assists with compilation of departmental statistics.
  • Maintains work area and a clean and orderly manner.
  • Required to obtain CEU credits necessary to maintain credentialed status, as well as maintain current CPR certification.
  • Training in EEG and the ability to perform EEGs as requested.
  • Performs additional l duties as assigned.
Position RequirementsMust have current RPSGT and or RST credentials, high School Graduate or GED, Associate ' s degree in life science related field preferred. Background / experience in nursing, respiratory care, cardiology, and/or EEG preferred. CPR certification is required. Basic knowledge of applicable physiology and pathology must be demonstrated. Judgment capabilities and interpretation skills concerning tests performed must be developed in order to notify primary healthcare providers of documented abnormalities. Typing, office, and basic computer skills are necessary. Good judgment is required to deal appropriately with emergency medical situations. Must be able to work independently or with others and without direct supervision. Must be able to work third shift as assigned and maintain alertness and cognition. Must possess good interpersonal skills.
Physical RequirementsGeneral activity includes ability to stand/walk for 4-6 hours, sit for 8-12 hours, bend, squat, crawl, reach, lift, carry, push, pull, use of both left and right hands, and be capable of lifting 25-50 pounds.
