Position Summary: The Director Quality Assurance is accountable for the development and implementation of the Arcadium Lithium Project Management System (ALCAPS) Assurance and Governance and Knowledge and Improvement processes and for providing assurance oversight of the development and implementation of ALCAPS.
This position reports to the PMO Director and would be based in a Houston, TX. Preference will be given to candidates located in (or willing to relocate to) in an Americas time zone.
Essential Duties And ResponsibilitiesThe Director, Quality Assurance will support the following types of projects:
  • All greenfield capital projects
  • All brownfield capital expansions and
  • All large manufacturing retrofits including, but not limited to, process improvements and equipment installations.
The Director Quality Assurance will provide strategic direction, guidance and support to ensure the successful planning, execution and delivery of Capital Projects.
Essential Functions And Accountabilities Include
  • Strategic Leadership
  • Provide strategic direction for quality assurance strategies and plans.
  • Ensure that quality management, assurance and control practices and methodologies reflect industry best practice and evolving trends.
  • Input to the development and execution of project management strategies.
  • Collaborate with a globally diverse and multicultural team, embracing the company's global presence
  • Team leadership
  • Manage and mentor the quality team.
  • Foster a collaborative and high-performance culture.
  • Provide mentoring, advise and support to all capital projects across all elements of quality management, assurance and control.
  • Resource Management
  • Oversee quality resource allocation and capacity planning to optimize resource utilization and ensure required expertise is available
  • Oversee quality talent pool(s) including recruitment, transfers, promotions, development and succession planning
  • Systems and Processes
Facilitate the development of ALCAPS policies, standards, and procedures ensuring compliance with:
  • regulation requirements (laws, regulations, codes).
  • Arcadium Lithium’s policies, standards and procedures.
  • ISO 9001:2015 and, when applicable, IATF 16949
  • Develop and be the custodian of Assurance and Governance and Knowledge and Improvement procedures and enabling tools and applications.
  • Standardize Project quality requirements and practices.
  • Facilitate Implementation of quality processes and enabling tools consistent with project context, risks and opportunities.
  • Assurance, Improvement and Knowledge
  • Manage integrated Capital Projects assessments program, including assessments of contractors and suppliers consistent with complexity and risk.
  • Facilitate management review as the basis for sustained improvement of system and personnel capabilities.
  • Provide external assessment and reviews for Capital Projects executed by Joint Venture or Arcadium Lithium Partners.
Travel: 15-30% travel required, including to Asia-Pacific and South America, with stays typically ranging between 1-2 weeks per trip.
Education And Experience
  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in engineering, Science or Quality Management.
  • 10 years of experience in quality management, with at least 5 years of experience in a leadership role.
  • Experience in establishing or working within a project management office in a capital intense heavy industry such as mining, refining, chemical processing or similar within an Owners and or/ EPC/M environment.
  • Experience in quality management strategies and practices as operator using typical contracting strategies through project development phases, E, EP, EPC, EPCM etc.
  • Understanding of key Engineering principles and standards across all disciplines of engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning required in Capital Projects.
  • Familiar with applicable laws, regulations, and best practices, and experience with project management software and tools.
  • Experience with internationally sourced design, supply chain and fabrication supporting a range of execution strategies, including modularization.
Knowledge And Skill Requirements
  • Proven track record of safety and quality leadership including setting expectations and being visible in the field.
  • Extensive knowledge of quality management and control methodologies, processes, tools, systems and best practices.
  • Managing and facilitating risk and opportunity and change management within the context of project framing, planning, execution and closure.
  • Managing and facilitating performance analysis, improvement, learning, innovation and knowledge management practices
  • Quality resource planning and forecasting and associated cost estimating and budget management.
  • Construction contracting strategies and package preparation requirements.
  • Ability to lead and influence Project Directors and Managers from a PMO perspective.
  • Proficiency in English language required; proficiency in additional languages such as Spanish or Chinese a plus.
  • Negotiation skills for effective management and resolution of conflicts with internal and external stakeholders, including Contractors and suppliers.
  • Organizational and communication skills for effective leadership of multi-disciplinary teams and alignment of project objectives between various stakeholder groups.
  • Enthusiasm, collaborative spirit, creative problem-solving skills and drive for continuous improvement.
  • High level of autonomy and meticulous attention to detail.

Work Environment: The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is infrequently in a manufacturing environment containing toxic or caustic chemicals. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; moving mechanical parts; fumes or airborne particles and outside weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
