Medical Equipment Technician

Job Overview:
We are seeking a skilled Medical Equipment Technician to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will work directly with Durable Medical Equipment (DME) including but not limited to setups, mask refitting, troubleshooting patient machine issues, assisting with patient questions, and serving as the direct point of contact for DME transfers. The Medical Equipment Technician will play a crucial role in supporting healthcare providers by ensuring that all medical equipment is in proper working condition.

Duties:

  • Assist with the transfer of Durable Medical Equipment for all insurances CSCC does not take. This includes the initial transfer of the device and supplies, and assisting as the direct point of contact for these patients to ensure the transfer is successfully completed.
  • Effectively communicate with all Medicare/Medicaid DME company point of contacts to ensure the transfer process remains streamlined and communicate any issues with providers.
  • Check Parachute Portal daily to track all transfer updates and update the Transfer Log weekly to ensure all patients have received devices and all follow up appointments have been scheduled.
  • Cross train as a DME Technician and assist in the event of call outs or walk-ins if other DME Techs are busy assisting patients.
  • Perform DME setups for CPAP, BiPAP, ASV, and mask refitting, create and confirm sales orders, maintain inventory, troubleshoot with DME companies when patients are dissatisfied with customer service, equipment, compliance card, or machine, etc.; follow up and coordinate shipment for DME supplies for patients on CPAP therapy.
  • Work directly with patients by calling for supply needs, scan patient documents, troubleshoot DME equipment questions and concerns, answer patient billing inquiries and work with billing staff to provide necessary patient information.
  • Perform administrative duties such as checking voice messages, answering phones, assisting administrative staff with actions, checking email, and other duties as assigned.
  • Communicate effectively with physicians, administrative, and billing staff to ensure effectiveness of the day-to-day center operations.
  • Scan, categorize, and save all applicable forms into their appropriate locations on computer server as directed by supervisor.
  • Effectively use eClinicalWorks and Brightree EMR practice management and billing systems.
  • Utilize OhMD system to review and send paperwork, converse with patients to identify any issues, and work to resolve those issues in a timely manner.

  • Excellent customer service experience with the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communicational skills with the ability to build rapport with patients.
  • Proficiency in using electronic health records (EHR) and other healthcare applications.
  • Commitment to providing exceptional patient care and improving patient outcomes.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary healthcare team environment.
  • Knowledge of sleep medicine is a plus.
  • Knowledge of Medicare/Medicaid is a plus.
