Culinary Services

Position Summary

Under general direction, and following defined policies and procedures, assigns work to, directs and trains Culinary Services staff in all areas of the department. Ensures all food prepared for patients and guests meets departmental quality standards- including proper temperature, portioning and attractive presentation. Ensures work is completed to provide patients and guests with a genuinely hospitable and excellent experience. Ensures department employees have appropriate supplies and resources. Works any shift or area of the department as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Embodies the mission and vision of Licking Memorial Health Systems in a leadership capacity, taking a high level of personal responsibility for the success of the Culinary Services departmental goals
  • Competency in all kitchen/cafeteria positions. Leads, trains, and supports all employees- demonstrating all department policies and procedures. Provides daily supervision of all staff activities.
  • Assigns specific duties to staff and coordinates the work performed according to established methods/procedures/recipes to meet quality and quantity standards for freshness/taste/and appearance for all food prepared and served.
  • Aids in developing and maintaining staff schedule to allow for optimal service to all patients and guests. Works any station or duty as needed based on business needs. Schedule is approved by the Managers and Director of Culinary Services.
  • Ensures employees adhere to established local/state and federal standards of sanitation and safety when handling, storing and preparing food.
  • Assigns staff and takes action in ensuring that all stations are stocked clean and organized throughout a shift.
  • Ensures that all “set-ups” (catering) are completed according to requests; May assist in transporting food and assisting with set ups at off campus locations. Ensures timely delivery and clean up occur on a daily basis.
  • Aids in the safe and secure handling of cash in retail areas of the department.
  • Responsible for general monitoring and oversight of the physical space of the department (including off-site locations), to include submission of work orders and computer hardware/software solutions

Requirements

  • Able to work a flexible schedule including weekends, specials events, holidays, nights and extended hours as required in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
  • 4 years food service experience with a minimum of 1 year in a supervisory capacity.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills in order to develop and maintain positive working relationships within department and other departments.
  • Work requires basic analytical and problem solving skills as well as general knowledge of operational costs, recipe conversion and culinary math.
  • ServSafe certified (or able to obtain certification)
  • Work requires proficiency in all areas and job duties of a kitchen and service environment.
  • Valid Ohio driver's license
