Lochmueller Group is Hiring a Roadway Design Project Engineer Near Kansas, KS

We are looking for a talented Civil Engineer to join our growing roadway/highway design team in the Kansas City area. The ideal candidate for this role will be a Professional Engineer with experience working on local agency and/or DOT roadway design projects. We provide multi-disciplined services for a variety of public agencies and private entities, including transportation design; water resources design; environmental analysis & permitting; construction engineering & inspection; traffic engineering & transportation planning; surveying; and land acquisition & appraisal. Our transportation design team offers a variety of services, but most of our work involves roadway and bridge design for various local public agencies and state DOT’s.

In this position, the candidate will:

  • Support project managers in the planning and execution of engineering projects.
  • Assist in the preparation of project proposals, budgets, and timelines.
  • Conduct engineering analysis and design for assigned projects.
  • Design complete projects or components of a project, and prepare complete project documents.
  • Apply engineering techniques, methods, and design criteria to support project execution.
  • Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure project goals are met.
  • Prepare and review project documentation, reports, and specifications.
  • Collaborate with clients, contractors, and regulatory agencies.
  • May assign work to junior engineers, technicians, or administrative staff. 
  • May be involved in the mentorship and development of junior level staff.
  • May perform other duties associated with this role.
Qualifications for this role:
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil Engineering
  • Professional Engineer (PE)
  • 4 years of experience in this discipline
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD and/or MicroStation
  • Proficient in project scheduling tools and software
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
  • Strong communication skills both written and verbal
  • Ability to work well individually or as part of a team are essential
