Loma Linda University Health is Hiring a Dietitian Specialist 2-TPN/VAD Near Loma Linda, CA

Job Summary: The Dietitian Specialist 2-TPN/VAD will support LLUMC's strategic plan and the organization's mission to continue the teaching and healing ministry of Jesus Christ, while embracing the core values of Compassion, Integrity, Excellence, Teamwork, Wholeness, Humility, and Justice. Under general supervision of the Manager- Clinical Nutrition in the TPN/VAD department, the Dietitian Specialist 2-TPN/VAD completes consults/nutrition assessments and reassessments for patients receiving parenteral nutrition (PN) and/or enteral nutrition (EN) for in-patients and outpatients at Loma Linda University Health. Works collaboratively with members of the healthcare team to implement nutrition interventions and coordinates the nutrition care of the patient. Provides education to patients and family members on PN and EN. Attends and participates in patient care rounds, team meetings, and quality meetings. Participates in Performance Improvement (PI) reviews to assure safe delivery of PN and EN, reducing potential therapy complications. Provides in-services and lectures to clinical staff and requested audiences and assists in the development of practice guidelines and reference material for nutrition support. Precepts and mentors other clinical dietitians. Serves as educator and mentor for specialized clinical nutrition by assisting with staff continuing education, developing staff competencies and in-services and providing clinical rotations for surgical, medical, pharmacy residents, fellows, other healthcare professionals, and Allied Health students. Work shifts as assigned by supervisor. These services may be provided for both the LLUMC and LLUCH hospitals. Performs other duties as needed.
Education and Experience: Graduate of accredited school with Bachelor or Master's degree in nutrition related fields including completion of clinical practicum experience. Minimum 2 years of clinical nutrition experience.
Knowledge and Skills: A thorough knowledge of clinical nutrition in area of specialty. Essential Technical and Motor skills: Handling, gripping, speed movements, fine dexterity, writing and speaking skills are necessary for the job. Able to operate a calculator, computer, pager, copy machine and telephone. Must be able to communicate effectively with others; collaborating and accepting direction. Able to work calmly and courteously under pressure, display a positive and professional demeanor to patients, visitors, and co-workers. Must also be consistent in enforcing Medical Center policies. Must have the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, making judgments, make and follow through on plans, reasoning and problem solving skills, mathematical skills, must be able to organize and prioritize workload, and be detailed oriented
Licensures and Certifications: Certification from Commission on Dietetic Registration (RD) required. Board Certification as a Nutrition Support Clinician (CNSC) within one year of hire date.
