Job Summary: The Supervisor-Clinical SBH (School of Behavioral Health) is responsible for the supervision of the work performed by student clinicians or interns. Reviews student clinician or intern cases, provides feedback during weekly individual/group meetings with student(s) and signs off on related case documentation. Performs other duties as needed.
Education and Experience: Master’s Degree in Marriage and Family Therapy, Counseling, or equivalent field required for Counseling & Family Sciences Department. Doctoral Degree in Psychology or Philosophy required for Psychology Department. Master’s Degree in Social Work with two years of post-graduate experience from a CSWE accredited program required. Completion of a six-hour biannual training in clinical supervision required. Master’s Degree in Child Life or related field with a minimum of 4,000 hours paid child life clinical experience. For licensed supervisors, completion of a credentialing through LLU Medical Staffing department within 90 days of hire required.
Knowledge and Skills: Knowledge of relevant laws and regulations pertaining to the practice of clinical counseling, marriage and family therapy, psychology, social work, and/or child life as appropriate in the state of California. Knowledge of ethics related to practice in these fields as well as skills, techniques, and theories. Ability to access electronic client medical record (LLEAP) on regular basis, sign off on student documentation and close encounters in a timely manner. Able to read; write and speak with professional quality; use computer and software programs necessary to the position, e.g., Word, Excel, Power Point, Access; operate/troubleshoot basic office equipment required for the position. Able to relate and communicate positively, effectively, and professionally with others; provide leadership; be assertive and consistent in enforcing policies; work calmly and respond courteously when under pressure; lead, supervise, teach, and collaborate; accept direction. Able to communicate effectively on the telephone; think critically; work independently; perform basic math and statistical functions; manage multiple assignments; compose written material; work well under pressure; problem solve; organize and prioritize workload; recall information with accuracy; pay close attention to detail. Able to distinguish colors as necessary; hear sufficiently for general conversation in person and on the telephone and identify and distinguish various sounds associated with the workplace; see adequately to read computer screens, and written documents necessary to the position.
Licensures and Certifications: A valid California license as a Clinical Counselor, Marriage and Family Therapist, Psychologist or Social Worker is required for Counseling & Family Sciences Department. A valid California license as a LCSW is preferred for Social Work Department. A valid certification through the Child Life Certification Commission.
