Medical Center: Staff Development- (Full-Time, Day Shift) -

Job Summary: The Instructional Designer-Staff Development(SD) applies independent judgment and critical thinking skills to oversee the implementation of online learning courses and programs offered through Staff Development that serves multiple healthcare organizations and entities operating under Loma Linda University Health (LLUH) System which is inclusive of two large tertiary academic medical centers with Magnet Recognition, level one trauma designation, and multiple hospitals operating on multiple campuses in various cities in San Bernardino and Riverside Counties. Uses creative instructional design methodologies and technology to develop, implement and maintain comprehensive cutting-edge education and training programs using technology and other alternatives to traditional or virtual face-to-face classroom education styles, for LLUH entities and the healthcare communities (local, national, and international). Serves as an instrumental change agent and expertly minimizes resistance to change in the learning environment and workforce. Ensures learning programs and technology are aligned with the goals, objectives, values and key initiatives of the organization's strategic plan. Collaborates with program instructors and educators to determine the best criteria to be used to judge the learner's satisfaction and develops appropriate course and participant evaluation and assessment instruments accordingly. Analyzes data from course participant evaluations and examines feedback for quality improvement purposes. Shares course evaluation results and other feedback with stakeholders, instructors, educators and senior department leadership. Develops action plans to increase participant satisfaction and enhance the educational experience. Alters technology design platforms to improve learning outcomes and participant satisfaction. Performs other duties as needed.
Education and Experience: Bachelor's degree in instructional design, instructional technology, informatics, education, or related field required. Bachelor's degree in Healthcare preferred. Master's degree preferred. Minimum of two (2) years' experience with demonstrated competency in instructional design, leadership, informatics or required. Experience in HTML, Captivate, Camtasia, Panopto, SCORM, and Moodle is preferred.
Knowledge and Skills: Basic knowledge of adult learning principles. Broad knowledge and understanding of computer hardware, applications most efficient and effective for on-line or alternative to classroom education. Knowledge and understanding of related Information technology trends and new developments. Able to read; write legibly; speak in English with professional quality; use computer, printer, and software programs necessary to the position (e.g., Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint). Strong knowledge of project management software such as MS Project, Access, and other project management tools. Relate and communicate positively and effectively with others; work calmly and respond courteously when under pressure; lead, supervise, teach, and collaborate; accept direction. Deal effectively with people and elicit support from other department areas, vendors, and customers. Excellent analytic and documentation skills. Organize technical work; demonstrate excellent planning, problem solving, analysis, and presentation skills; analyze and interpret data, processes and needs based on limited information; make recommendations; manage time effectively and plan and implement objectives effectively. Think critically and work independently; perform basic math and statistical functions; compose written material; recall information with accuracy; pay close attention to detail. Able to distinguish colors as necessary; hear sufficiently for general conversation in person and on the telephone and identify and distinguish various sounds associated with the workplace; see adequately to read computer screens, and written documents necessary to the position.
Licensures and Certifications: Current California license in degree of healthcare field required if degree is clinical requiring license to practice in California. Additional preferred qualifications: Certificate in Instructional Design.
