HIRING: Emergency Medical Technician (EMT)/Program Aide

Salary: $21.00 - $25.00 per hour (Depending on education, experience, skillset and hiring site)

Summary: Under the direct supervision of the Program Manager, the Program Aide/Emergency Medical Technician (EMT)

will assist as a clinical resource, in providing direct, and in-direct patient care.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Respond to emergency medical assistance;
  • Assessment and stabilization of Patient Vitals;
  • Administration of Basic Health procedures;
  • Provides first-aid treatment or life support care to sick or injured patients;
  • Creation and documentation of Patient Care reports;
  • Provide CIWA and/or COWS;
  • Transport patients safely to the Hospital or initiate Emergency Medical response as needed;
  • Provides individualized care plan for patient presentation;
  • Collects, records and communicates basic patient data, current and changing status;
  • Cleans, inspects, First Aid supplies and equipment. Provide guidance with COVID-19 infection control protocols;
  • Trained in recognizing signs and symptoms of overdose and in administering Narcan when emergency situation arises;
  • Takes immediate and appropriate action upon occurrence of emergency situation;
  • Participates in continuing/advanced education which demonstrates employee commitment to improving capabilities.

Qualifications:

  • Current and non-restricted EMT certification
  • Experience working with substance abuse/ mental health population (preferred)

Education:

  • CALIFORNIA Basic Life Support (BLS) or Cardiac Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR): Required
  • AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider or equivalent: Required
  • EVOC/EVOS or equivalent: Preferred
  • CALIFORNIA Emergency Medical Training (EMT) certification.

Must be able to pass the following pre-employment screenings:

  • Background check, including criminal history (LA CADA considers all applicants equally and will take into account each applicant’s individual life circumstances).
  • Drug and health screen, including negative TB test
  • Employment and education verification

CADA) is a licensed and certified substance use and behavioral treatment provider by the State of California’s Department of Health Care Services and the County of Los Angeles Department of Public Health – Substance Abuse Prevention and Control.
