Los Angeles Community College District is Hiring a Fitness Center Coordinator Near Sylmar, CA

The Los Angeles Community College District (LACCD) invites applications for the position of Fitness Center Coordinator. A Fitness Center Coordinator coordinates the operations of a college fitness center and monitors exercise and body conditioning activities.

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

Monthly Salary: $7,112.00-$8,810.00 * ($85,344.00-$105,720.00 annually)

*Salary Information is based on a full-time, 12-month position

Health Benefits: District-paid medical, dental, and vision insurance plans for employee and dependents. A $50,000 life insurance policy is provided free of charge for each employee. A Health Reimbursement Account (HRA) with $1,500 contributed by LACCD annually.

Paid Time Off: 12 full-pay days and 88 half-pay days of illness leave per year, 19 paid holidays per year, and accrued vacation time from 10-24 days per year depending on the position. Other paid time off options are also available.

Retirement: Employees become members of the Public Employees Retirement System (PERS) pension. Employees are also covered by Social Security.

TYPICAL DUTIES

Coordinates use of the fitness center with Athletics, Kinesiology/Physical Education, and Community Services Program.

Promotes all activities of the fitness center campus-wide and to the community at large, which involves developing public relations and promotional and marketing materials for various fitness center activities and programs.

Evaluates, measures, and assesses fitness training needs of students/athletes and develops group and individualized exercise programs.

Provides guidance to fitness center users on how to use the fitness equipment and on basic principles of physical fitness and conditioning.

Develops and enforces safety policies, procedures, and rules for use of the fitness center and surrounding areas.

Ensures that the fitness center and surrounding areas are free from health and safety hazards.

Provides information regarding fitness center activities to college offices and the community.

Develops and maintains the budget of the college fitness center.

Supervises, trains, and schedules the work of assigned staff.

Oversees or participates in the collection of center admission fees.

Oversees the purchase, repair, and maintenance of exercise equipment.

Maintains records of ticket receipts and prepares reports of facility use.

Utilizes standard office software applications to compile data and prepare reports and correspondence concerning fitness center matters.

Performs emergency first aid and CPR/AED according to established guidelines and procedures.

Performs related duties as assigned.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Education and Experience:

A. An associate degree or its equivalent from a recognized college or university with a major in physical education, kinesiology, exercise science, or a related field AND two years of full-time, paid experience in coordinating a fitness program or center.

OR

B. A bachelor's degree from a recognized college or university with a major in physical education, kinesiology, exercise science, or a related field.

Special:

A valid First-Aid Certificate or its equivalent issued by the American Red Cross or American Heart Association.

A valid certificate in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation/Automated External Defibrillators or its equivalent issued by the American Red Cross or American Heart Association.
