Los Angeles Community College District is Hiring a FY25 - Instructor Special Assignment, Workforce Development/Curriculum Development - copy Near Los Angeles, CA

LATTC is looking for a highly motivated, dynamic Workforce Readiness Curriculum Developer for industry and grant-funded projects. This grant-funded position is funded for five years with a potential of renewal based on continued workforce and grant funding. This position will focus on developing instructional and workforce development curricula plus developing and leading workforce readiness training for Train-the-Trainer modules to incumbent workers, college faculty, and community-based and industry workforce partners. This position requires a 35 hour-per-week (1.0 FTE), year-round commitment. This is a D-basis, Specially Funded Position (SFP). The assignment is to begin for the fall semester. An extension will be requested annually for each year.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum qualifications to teach in any LATTC discipline.
  • Demonstrate sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socio-economic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, faculty, and staff.


ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS

A medical certificate indicating fitness to engage in administrative work is required for new employees at the applicant’s expense prior to employment.

Pursuant to LACCD Board of Trustee's Policy 2900, all students and employees must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 and complete a baseline test or have an approved exemption. LACCD employees are required to provide their vaccination status in compliance with the LACCD Board of Trustees’ policy. Newly hired employees will be required to provide their vaccination status prior to starting a position or, at the latest, by their position start date.


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Duties of this position include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Develop instructional curriculum for new workforce entrants and incumbent workers focusing on workforce readiness and based on industry scans, job profiles, Developing a Curriculum (DACUMs), employer needs assessments, competency models, and other occupational profile tools.
  • Develop instructional curriculum utilizing state-of-the art educational technologies and instructional tools and modalities including augmented and virtual reality.
  • Identify, develop, and pilot instructional support strategies in collaboration with regional employers and LATTC faculty to foster academic, workforce, and career readiness competencies.
  • Develop (and revise on a continuous basis) assessment tools, including rubrics, metrics, and other evaluation modes, to measure learner gains and/or competency proficiencies.
  • Conduct occupational and industry research to support the development of instructional programs, to support the building and maintaining of industry partnerships, and to position the College as a workforce development leader.
  • Provide regular communication about curricular and workforce readiness projects through presentations, meetings, and direct contact to appropriate stakeholders, including employers and faculty.
  • Lead Train-the-Trainer, DACUM sessions, and competency modeling with incumbent workers, college faculty, and community-based and employer workforce partners.
  • Select and use learning management systems and other data management tools to monitor and report participant progress.
  • Work with team to lead/facilitate industry curricular design meetings.
  • Conduct workshops, seminars, and other instructional activities.


DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS/PREFERRED CORE COMPETENCIES

  • Five years of experience working in a postsecondary educational or job training institution.
  • Educational background and/or experience in curriculum development and assessment.
  • Teaching experience in a community college, adult school, or adult-learner focused institution including for-profit and non-profits and/or public institutions.
  • Experience working directly with employers including Key Subject Matter Experts (KSME) and other points of contact as identified by employers and partners.
  • Experience employing occupational, industry, and curriculum research, design, and development tools and processes (e.g., competency mapping, DACUM, etc.).
  • Proficiency in the use of both common and state-of-the-art instructional technologies (i.e., Canvas, AR/VR platforms, etc.).
  • Expertise in accessibility requirements and technologies, including experience getting technology applications approved.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 Suite and presentation applications.
  • Strong communication skills in oral and written English.


SALARY

The starting salary range for entry-level positions is to $87,588 - $162,744 for a 12-month academic year. The selected candidate will be allocated within the salary range upon evaluation by the Los Angeles Community Colleges District Human Resources unit. Fringe benefits include medical, vision, dental, and life insurance and is available for the employee and eligible dependents.
