Supervisor: Program Manager, YOLA at Inglewood
Compensation: $20.00/hour

Program Summary:
YOLA , A music education program of the LA Phil, provides incomparable and equitable access to a high-quality and intensive music education for more than 1,700 elementary, middle, and high school students from diverse and vibrant communities across Los Angeles at five unique sites. In providing this access, YOLA strives to support young people to leverage their learned skills and artistic identities and create transformational change for themselves and their communities. In 2021, the Beckmen YOLA Center was opened as a purpose-built space for YOLA programming and as cultural arts resource in the city of Inglewood.
Position Summary:
Responsible for supporting the work at YOLA at Inglewood projects within the LA Phil's learning department. The Program Assistant works in collaboration with the Program Manager and Program Coordinator in the day-to-day operation of YOLA at Inglewood. Tasks will include administrative support of programs and projects including fall, summer, and spring programming.
This is an entry level opportunity for skilled individuals interested in building a career in arts and orchestral administration. Hours for this position will range between 15 - 25 hours per week.
Minimum Requirements
Position Elements:
Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):
  • Assisting with daily operations, including schedule changes, ensemble rehearsals and student sign in/sign out
  • Supporting teachers, students, and parents during programming
  • Assisting with student enrollment and attendance
  • Assisting with recruitment of new students
  • Assisting with instrument inventory
  • Assisting with program evaluation and assessment
  • Assisting with repertoire distribution for multiple ensembles
  • Communications to parents, students, and in-school teachers
  • Communicating effectively in written and verbal form with key internal and external colleagues
  • Assisting in the creation of schedules, databases/lists, production and event running orders
  • Assisting with classroom setup and teardown before and after programming
  • Assisting in program documentation and evaluation
  • Preparing and proofreading communication pieces including presentations, newsletters, talking points, information for web and social media, and marketing pieces
  • Assisting in the support of staff and teaching artists
  • Assisting Learning staff as needed, supporting company-wide educational and community initiatives and related communications, pre-concert and concert duty, etc.
  • Other projects and duties as assigned
