Loudoun County Government is Hiring an Equity Specialist Near Leesburg, VA

Loudoun County Government is dedicated to fostering an inclusive and equitable environment for all residents and County employees. The Office of Equity and Inclusion is charged with advancing equity initiatives and ensuring that all County departments are equipped with the knowledge and tools to implement equitable practices in their operations and services.
We are excited to invite dynamic and passionate Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) professionals to apply for our Equity Specialist position. Reporting to the County’s Chief Equity Officer, this pivotal role will support transformative organizational change and make a lasting impact on the Loudoun County community by providing DEI training to County employees and consultative services to County departments.

Training & Development:
  • Develop comprehensive training programs on diversity, equity, and inclusion for County employees, utilizing principles and best practices for adult learning and group facilitation.
  • Design and deliver employee training using a variety of methods including in-person classroom training, webinars, and e-learning. 
  • Design educational materials and resources to support ongoing learning and development in DEI initiatives.
Consultative Services:
  • Provide expert consultation to County departments on incorporating equity into their policies, programs, and services and advancing DEI within their departments.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of departmental equity action plans in alignment with the Loudoun Equity Action Plan (LEAP).
Stakeholder Engagement:
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with County leadership, employee groups, community partners, and other stakeholders to support equity initiatives.
  • Facilitate workshops, meetings, and discussions to promote understanding and collaboration on DEI issues.
Research & Analysis:
  • Conduct research on best practices in DEI to inform county policies and practices.
  • Design surveys and other assessment tools to gather DEI related quantitative and qualitative data.
  • Analyze data to identify disparities and track progress toward DEI goals.
Program Support:
  • Coordinate, oversee, and track DEI-related projects, ensuring they align with County goals and objectives.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of DEI initiatives, making recommendations for improvement as needed.
Hiring salary is commensurate with experience.Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in public administration, business administration, or a related field (example: social sciences, human resources, or education); three (3) years of related work experience in diversity, equity, and inclusion; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Demonstrated commitment to advancing DEI initiatives. 
  • Proven track record of developing and delivering training programs.
  • Strong consultation and project management skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Excellent business writing skills. 
  • Ability to analyze complex information and present it in a clear and concise manner.
Successful candidate will undergo criminal background check.
